Great Characters Elvis Presley (2020)

Hi,

I was wondering if anybody had any extended intel as to what the 2020 Great Characters edition would look like. It's already been announced that the pen will be Elvis Presley themed, but Montblanc is pretty good at keeping the design of the pens secret.

Thanks,

Charlie

What I've seen so far has not impressed me or made me want to buy. And with Pelikan silent, I have decided it's ok to devote some funds to the black powder firearms collection. And you're right, I don't need any more of those either

Not interested either. Have to see what the actual pen looks like. That's because the writer's edition is much more interesting.

Waiting to see the real thing of course, but the catalog pics I saw don't tempt me to purchase either. Maybe the latest Petit Prince? Hard to know. But not Elvis, for sure.

I haven't seen it in person, but I heard it will feature Elvis' signature above/across the white star - because only Elvis is bigger than Montblanc :-)

From what I've seen, the Little Prince collection and the "curved" collection (including the solitaire) are nice. The rest...a hard pass.

I'm glad their WE and GC have been so unattractive to my eyes lately, I don't even get tempted.

There were some images posted in the MB Collectors Facebook group a month or so ago.

To my eye, it’s pretty fugly, but the WE looks like a return to form - IMHO.

I think of all 2020 releases, the Heritage collection and the WE interest me the most.

GC version is nice too but in my view it doesn't capture Elvis.

PoA looked very flashy in the brochure and remains to be seen how it'll look in person.

Didn't care much for the Little Prince collection.

Waiting for June for Heritage collection to release!

Just one question about the Heritage: is it skinny or fat?

MB is going in to the wrong direction, in my opinion and 'taste'. Not for me too.

To your greatest surprise, the next next and next Great Characters would be Papa John (with red peperoni on top of Star) and Richard McDonald (of course, giant gold M). Harland Sanders tried very hard to put his hand on it but lost the war with famous Papa John!

Your humble resistance is futile!

Hard to tell from the images I saw. I'm hoping its a bit fatter than the MB Rouge et Noir.

I would guess the heritage is Montblanc's way of introducing a new chassis to create a line of limited edition pens around and it would probably be equally thin and with a smaller nib, like the current version. I believe the price point is supposed to be slightly lower than the WE.

On a pretty grim news day here in England the word 'fugly' made me smile and I intend to use it today should I encounter another person wandering around aimlessly. Best to all.

I'm waiting for the Liberace Great Characters edition (might need an Italian designer for that one)!

Afraid Elvis holds zero attraction for me, nor do most of the other special edition pens. Wake me up when MB issue a 149 in vermeil (already own the 146 version).

It is actually listed in the Merriam-Webster digital dictionary, along with fuglier and fugliest. Seems I learn something new and useful everyday.
