Diamine Inks That Make You Happy

I'm happy that Blood Orange is almost an exact match to the dark red parts of my M600 Red Tortoise.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

I have only a sample, but am planning on inking up my Red Tortoise with Blood Orange as soon as write through my current fill of KWZ El Dorado. Might have to buy a bottle!

Now that spring is coming, I'm drawn most to Soft Mint and Meadow for a bright and cheery burst.

Mostly Diamine ink make me happy because they're usually well behaved and affordable, and there's plenty to love about that.

I love Diamine inks, I think Syrah is my favourite ink of all but I also agree with earlier posts that Chocolate brown, Delamere Green and Green Umber do a fantastic job. For what it’s worth I have found Damson to be a little insipid.

Teal is lighter in the flesh than it appears on the Diamine website and is a solid performer.

Based on feedback above it looks like I need a bottle of Ancient Copper and Oxblood (which I selected a free sampler but Diamine forgot to include when I last ordered which was frustrating) and I am also intrigued by Green-Black or Sherwood - any further thoughts from anyone on any of those??

my interest is focused on blue inks

in term of colour:

sargasso sea
majestic blue
oxford blue
are must haves (and you do)

Bilberry and Blue Velvet are also must haves

Regency and Midnight are very nice but not too different from Oxford, the former slightly darker the latter slightly lighter

Sapphire is a nice purple leaning blue, possibly I'd prefer Cornflower

If you want a turquoise leaning blue, that is not too light, Asa is very nice.

Diamine blue-black is oddly similar to Majestic, teal leaning slightly darker

they do behave differently, in reality only Sargasso and Majestic are slightly more troublesome, being very saturated

Diamine 1864 makes me very happy. It and Edelstein Tanzanite are the only blue-blacks that matter, IMHO.

I haven’t tried too many Diamine inks, but of the 6 or 7 I have, I like Billberry and Prussian Blue

I like Indigo because it is vintage-y looking; Green-black because it has gravitas, Misty Blue because it looks nice in a broad nib and behaves well (most do!), and Midnight...well, I can't say I really like it, but I always have it in one pen or other because it. Just. Works.

My latest ebook. And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

Eau de Nil, because it's just one of my favourite colours and a beautifully behaved version of it.

Prussian Blue, because it's such a fantastic value blue black

Wild Strawberry, one of my all time favourite reds, and actually looks like wild strawberries

Green Umber, perfect match for many of my Pelikan bindes

Spring Green, which just makes me smile

Honey Burst, possibly my most usable yellowish ink

Golden Brown, but that might because I like the Stranglers

Silver Fox, which along with Earl Grey are in my favourite greys

And I'm sure I've forgotten some, but those came to mind immediately.

Honey Burst? Oh, right...I forgot Apple Glory, a spring green, and the entire Les Paul Guitar inks line-up!

My latest ebook. And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

The Denim and the Earl Grey are fighting hard for being my favourite. At the moment, the Denim is just a little above.

I'm currently loving "Raw Sienna" in my slightly wetter writing Penbbs-355.
Also loving "Woodland Green" with 4 drops of J.Herbin - Perle Noir to goth it up a little darker.

I'd considered buying more and more inks until I find that "PERFECT" shade of green...but it's more economical to just make my own mix to satisfy my own needs with what I already have.
That way I can spend money on getting fancy nibs and another Opus-88 Demo instead!

I still have quite a bit of a concoction that I made myself when I ran out of MB Racing Green ink. It's pretty close I think to what was originally in the MB bottle (at least I think so). I can't even remember now what I put in it, other than it was part Iroshizuku ina-ho, which I couldn't wait to get rid of as it is possibly the most horrible ink I've ever bought.....(other than some really ghastly muddy pinky Noodlers stuff that I had once!) ;)

Ooooh....always (ALWAYS) write down your fomulations!
I'd be lost without my little journal of ink mixtures.
I even figured out mixtures for "food coloring" versions of the inks I like...in case they every skyrocket in price and are unaffordable.

FP Ink Orphanage-Is an ink not working with your pens, not the color you're looking for, is never to see the light of day again?!! If this is you, and the ink is in fine condition otherwise, don't dump it down the sink, or throw it into the trash, send it to me (payment can be negotiated), and I will provide it a nice safe home with love, and a decent meal of paper! Please PM me!For Sale: TBA

 • 2 weeks later...

Diamine Raw Sienna is my current favorite, but I wouldn't be without Green-Black or Oxford Blue, and Graphite and my Pel 51 have fallen in love and are inseparable. I wish Ochre was easier to clean out of pens but it was banished from the house for that reason. If I wasn't already in love with R&K Alt-GoldGrun, Safari might well have filled that niche.

Asa Blue... an excellent, well behaved ink, with a lot going on. One of my favourite inks.

Deep Dark Red... enjoyable to write with, and a great shade I never tire of.
