Diamine Inks That Make You Happy

Discovering Wild Strawberry and Poppy Red made me happy. WS is very slightly brighter, they both do the job well when I need to do my red ink log entries. I like bright reds and these do not disappoint.

I have toyed with ordering a bunch of Diamine inks from Cult Pens, but haven’t yet. Will you post about the experience once you have placed then received your order?

My CultPens order was delivered today, East Coast USA. Took exactly one week since placing my order to arriving at my door. Well-packaged. Five-star service in my book!

Diamine makes a consitently great, varied line of iinks. Currently, I own and often use: Autumn Oak, Blue Black, Marine, Oxblood and Red Dragon. Tobacco Sunbust looks awesome!

Just be aware that some larger pen sections don't fit the somewhat narrow neck of the 30ml bottle ( unless they've changed the bottle shape since I last bought some).

Yesterday is history.

Tomorrow is a mystery.

Today is a gift.

That's why it's called the present

I received my order today and will be making a post in a bit with some swatches of the inks I picked (which I know will have some favorites). No problems with CultPens, and I am satisfied. Thank you to everyone who gave suggestions, and feel free to keep commenting with any inks that make you happy, now including oranges, yellows, pinks, etc :)

As much as I like Diamine (in general) as a brand, I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend its common ink colours when asked for recommendations in particular colour families.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

I understand, a large part why I don't have many in the first place is that despite the large range I tend to gloss over the brand. I got Poppy Red last year because I was shopping locally, and really looking for a bright red that leaned towards orange in washes, but before that it had been 3 years since I bought a Diamine Ink.

Top picks for me are majestic blue for the red sheen (not sure if the new bottles still do this but mine is circa 2012-2013) and for red, poppy red. Poppy is very intense but flows very wet.

To be honest, I haven't tried many Diamine inks until recently. And those that I had tried before I just wasn't impressed with.

But recently, I decided to try a few that I hadn't before. I ordered a sample of Tudor Blue, and 30ml bottles of Sapphire Blue, Claret and China Blue. I got them today. I loaded them in pens that have moderately wet nibs, with the exception of Claret which I loaded into a pen with a fairly dry nib. I was writing with Claret in this fairly dry nib and I must say that the combination isn't too bad. Next time, I will try Claret in a more wet nib. But I really like the color alot.

The others seem to be pleasant. I really like China Blue, but I think the one I will use the most is Sapphire Blue.

Avoid Grape.

YES

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Sargasso Sea (I love how vibrant it is)

Bilberry (you already have and it is one of my favorites)

Cerise. It is BRIGHT

Apple Glory because it is also retina searing.

I liked the color of Grape, but in pen after pen, the ink did not flow well. I did not experience the staining that other users have reported, but I found it impractical to use an ink that would dry out in the nib while I was taking notes in a meeting or class.

I have a 30ml bottle of Diamine Grape that is still unopened since it arrived over a year ago. If the only "problem" is that the ink flows dry, I'll have to try it in my Parker Duofold Centennial, after the current fill of Noodler's Black Swan in Australian Roses has run out or run dry, to see if that will make its Fine Italic nib useful to me writing in normal nib orientation.

In my experience, Grape does not flow particularly dry. It stops flowing altogether.

Currently LCdC Comte d'Or

I have never seen this before, thank you for sharing. It's a wonderful color! Very exciting since this seems to be the first of many.
