Diamine Inks That Make You Happy

I assume it's more of a, "I'm placing an order with Cult Pens, primarily for the store-exclusive Iridescinks, but the free international shipping threshold for an order is £70, and 80ml bottles of all four colours as a set only amounts to £21.60 ex VAT after two compounding 10% discounts that apply. Got any suggestions of what I might top the order up? Diamine inks are so cheap per bottle from Cult Pens, I might as well start with those, instead of either buying another fountain pen or bottles of ink that are more expensive (per ml, or compared to other online retailers' prices)."

Grape was the first new ink I purchased after twenty years of using only Pelikan 4001 Violet. I liked the color of Grape, but in pen after pen, the ink did not flow well. I did not experience the staining that other users have reported, but I found it impractical to use an ink that would dry out in the nib while I was taking notes in a meeting or class.

 

I was so disappointed by the experience of Grape that I have never bought another Diamine ink. Fortunately, there are nice dark purples available from many other brands; my collection includes well-behaved dark purples produced by Rohrer & Klingner, J Herbin, Sailor, De Atramentis, and Birmingham. KWZI also has some beautiful dark purples that I have tried but not acquired.

You've hit the nail on the head. This post was not an exact "give me the exact inks to buy" as it would have been much less open-ended (though I am beginning to finalize some choices based on this thread) but more of a discussion. Some replies include inks I already have.

I've got a few inks I'm really liking in this thread. Though, I'm currently struggling to choose between Pelham Blue and Asa Blue. Though I am slightly leaning towards Pelham Blue for the sole reason that I can get Asa Blue locally (so it's a bit easier.)

 

I can't quite tell if it leans towards blue-violet or teal. I'm not so tempted to get it if it's a blue-violet. Has anyone used both or have a personal preference?

 

I like Aster quite a bit, but prefer Misty Blue just a bit more. I hope I won't come to regret picking Misty Blue over Aster

I'm buying from cultpens too! I forgot to state in my original that I'm getting the Iridescinks as well as what's listed. There's a 10% off till end of february for new penorama users,so i'm using that!

 

Nice! I used a 10% off coupon off 30GBP for signing up for their newsletter. Did not get their Iridescinks, but got 2 shimmer inks (Enchanted Ocean and Lilac Satin), 30ml of Misty Blue, Eau de Nil, Twilight, Graphite, Coral, Cornflower blue, and restock of Asa Blue.

Both Pelham Blue and Asa Blue lean green rather than purple. Asa is a kind of cerulean-cyan leaning Blue, green-leaning from neutral blue. Pelham is tealy. Misty Blue is also slightly green-leaning. If you want a purple/lavender-leaning blue, then it's something like Cornflower from the flowers series.

I most certainly will, alongside with swatches of the colors I do decide to get, once I can reach a computer.

My favorite Diamine inks are:

 

Aurora Borealis This inks seems to change colors between blue and green depending on the paper and light

Grey It is the most well behaved ink that I have ever used. No bleeding even on the cheapest paper, plus somewhat permanent

Chocolate Brown It is a very warm looking brown

Mediterranean Blue A beautiful happy color

Asa Blue An old standby that is beautiful color that shades well

Pelham Blue A nice shading ink and the only blue-black I like

Ancient Copper I always have a pen loaded with this. It behaves well and is a nice alternative to brown

Florida Blue Another great turquoise ink that leans hard to blue without green tint. Probably my favorite blue, and possibly my favorite ink overall

Amazing Amethyst A well behaved subtle purple that goes on dark and settles into a nice soft purple

Saddle Brown A very nice well behaved medium brown that leans more to yellow undertones than red

Two of the Essential Inks are Diamines: Sherwood (a deep green) and Chocolate (a warm, dark brown, like Nestle semi-sweet morsels).

Apple Glory makes me feel of spring....

I haven't tried Diamine Umber but have been tempted by it.......

 

 

Another vote for November Rain...dark green with nice red but subtle sheen. Add water and is somewhat blue-green. Easy to clean out. Not bulletproof in the slightest.

We have so many Diamine inks — more than any two (or even three) other bands combined — for the same reason, and they are great for the price (at which Cult Pens is offering them, never mind anyone's possible preference to buy from "local" retailers), but in fact my wife and I use very few of them day to day or week to week. The Diamine ink colours I like the most are the retailer- or region-exclusive ones (including but not limited to Cult Pen Iridescinks); I don't think the others really surpass Sailor, Platinum, Pilot, Colorverse, Rohrer & Klinger and KWZ Ink inks, ignoring the (effective or list) price-per-millilitre cost metric.

#1- Diamine Emerald.

 

It will shade and shade and shade in the right pen. Light-dark.

 

And Sherwood is a great green color as well.

 

Majestic blue and the cousins (Skull & Roses, etc) also wild.

 

Diamine has too many fab colors.
