Diamine Inks That Make You Happy

Recommended Posts

Since I bought Diamine Pumpkin, I always have a Safari terracotta filled with it. Nearly perfect hue of orange for my eyes, and good flow.

Another very nice Diamine inks: Red Dragon, Billberry, Writer's Blood.

I like Havasu Turquoise, in terms of color, but causes a bit too much see-through.

For me it is Ancient Copper and Skull & Roses. Ancient Copper in particular is almost always in at least one pen.

If you are to be ephemeral, leave a good scent.

Ancient Copper has definitely caught my eye, especially with autumn here, I need to pick up a bottle.  Have several Diamine bottles right now, including Sapphire Blue, Sherwood Green, Red Dragon, Red Lustre (shimmer), and Magical Forest (shimmer).

I got it first to use it in the Copper Liliputs, then when I got the Turtle Lacquer Hastil, there it went as well, and it keeps spreading.

Now, it may not be your choice of ink, that is highly personal, but it did certainly strike a chord in me.

Diamine Silver Fox.

From Diamine, I just tried Les Paul series ( Desert Burst to be precise, Tobacco Sunburst is waiting the turn ) , what I like most about it is shading as I didn't get it at any other ink I tried with (GvFC) EF nib.

I'm not into Pelham Blue or Honey Burst but would like to try Cherry sunburst as well.

Interestingly enough, I rather liked Pelham Blue when I tried it.

I love the fact that everybody here likes something different but we still have pens and inks in common.

Diamine Sapphire, Sargasso Sea, Red Dragon, Bilbury, Registrar's, Poppy Red, Sherwood Green.

I love the smell of fountain pen ink in the morning.

Hi,

my favourites are:

First: Diamine Registrar's. A great strong IG ink giving wunderful writing experience to most of my Swan pens.

Second: Diamine Green/Black, as I like it's noble color, not too wet.

Third: Diamine Autumn Oak, a joy from a broad nib...

Ink preferences are very personal. Bright and vibrant colours appeal to some of us while dark and bold colours excite others of us.  I know that is stating the obvious. Yet, I think we need to be reminded of the obvious.

My point is; there is no wrong ink and no wrong colour. I enjoy the vast variety we have available to us even though the inks I choose to use the most are all shades of blue.

Very true words!

I mostly don't match ink to the pen color, but I know people who do.  A friend of mine in the Pacific Northwest is a tech writer for an engineering firm.  Her co-workers thought it was "cute" when she would use different pens for taking notes at meetings -- till they realized that there was a method to her "madness" -- because the different colors for the notes helped her when she was typing up stuff after the meetings: "Joe is going to be working on this part of the project next" (notes in red ink with the red pen) "while Ken is going to working on that part" (notes in green with the green pen).  Of course I don't know what ink she's using these days -- the pens are mostly Levengers, but she didn't like the Lavender ink all that much; she really liked the relabeled inks that IIRC Diamine made for what is now Birmingham Pens, but of course now Birmingham is concocting their own color mixes.

Diamine Sapphire. It was one of the first inks I tried after I took up fountain pens again. I had bought Parker Quink Washable Blue, and dumped it after a day of writing and watching it wash itself out as it dried. The owner of Fountain Pen Hospital said, when I asked for good old Schaeffer Skrip, "Ah...they have sent all ink production to Slovenia. They've reformulated their inks and gotten rid of the great old bottles".

Then I bought Diamine Sapphire Blue. Great color, and my main ink until I tried Iroshizuku Asa-gao. While FPN lured me to try various striking Private Reserve and a few Noodlers saturated blues, Sapphire Blue has been dependable. (And, yes, Sapphire and Majestic mixed make a reasonable "False Parker Penman Sapphire")

I've already opened everything & played with them.  I won't ruin the anticipation for others, but for me, it is a good Inkvent year!

For someone who didn't need any inks, I just wonder how I ended up with 7-9 new ones this year.

.

Of the three from India, that were supposed to be sheen monsters one only one was an Igor. The other two were popcorn munchers.

Lamy Crystal Agate needed a drop of glycerine...not more, in it was the driest ink i've ever seen by far, even drier than 4001 BB. Shades.

The Lamy Crystal brown, looked real good shading on the test...but hasn't been loaded.

Daimine Silver Fox gray came out real good.

The regular Diamine gray, was nothing special. Luckily only had one cartridge.

Kaweco smoky gray is lighter (bordering on too light) but at least shades.

After going crazy and testing all (not the two Pelikan W.Germany  gray (1 left) and :notworthy1:silver gray (2 left) seven gray inks of mine.

I ended up with 19 pens inked which was a bit over my goal of only 7 so i could use up more ink...

..Mumble cubed...I have that ink, the ice is broken...mumble squared...ink it...Ink it...INK IT!!!!

Being weak willed, I'm sure i will....but which one??????

More and more, I think I could live with just one ink -- Diamine Oxford Blue.  Two of the three pens I have inked have Oxford Blue in them.  The other has black ink.
