In the mean time this pen has disappeared, has someone be able to buy one?

Alfredo

Appelboom website mentions Early 2022.

I preordered close to 15 months ago (not from Appelboom) and have not heard a thing.

Well, it finally happened! I got one. I actually ordered this from FPH a month or two ago- they had them listed on their super specials page, but not the black ones. I went with the chrome over the gold. Finally opened it up on Christmas. I also received, as a gift, one of the new Icon models. So here they are, side by side, for comparison.

The Legacy feels good, quality seems similar to the last new Legacy I handled, many years ago. The nib is fantastic, with a little bit of line variation with some pressure. It's a nice, responsive nib with very good flow. On the down side, the cap doesn't want to stay posted. Overall, though, it's a nice pen. I'm pretty happy with it, especially that nib!

Now if only they were easier to come by, or offered in some other nib sizes...

best,

Doug

Congratulations! The Legacy line is, I believe, one of the nicest in modern pendom. I have two, both from the Legacy I period. I have a blue lacquer with stainless cap and a smooth sterling silver (with a massive italic nib). They are about the smoothest writers I own.

Sorry to hear about the posting trouble. Mine post fine, so you may want ask FPH to check their others for a possible replacement.

Doug, it's good to hear this report on the new Legacy pens. The last iteration had a plastic insert, which I think was what was, effectively, the inner cap. I worry about posting metal caps/pens, but on the older Legacy the plastic was a soft enough surface that I didn't have much concern and they hold well. Take a look and see what is in the cap. I also wonder if the texture on the barrel keeps it from holding securely. Great news about the nib, though, that was my biggest concern.

BTW, how is the Icon pen, especially in performance. I'm not totally over the moon with the look but it is a really good price point and I'm curious to try one in case it is good to recommend as a mid-entry pen.

I like it! I actually just posted about it under the Icon thread, which it turns out I actually started. So we've come full circle. The pen feels very substantial, and writes nicely but the nib is very firm. It's definitely the same nib as the Taranis, which runs a little thin.

best,

Doug

Thanks, Doug, I didn't know of the thread. Will seek out.
