Question On New (To Me) Vintage Parker Mechanical Pencil.

Recommended Posts

I received some amazing gifts the other day, my girlfriend's mum ended up picking up some old Cross and Parker ballpoint pens and mechanical pencils for me as a gift (feeding the addiction, so dangerous I know :D), there is one thats stumped me a bit, it looks like a Parker 45 Mechanical Pencil, Made in Canada (Canada's my home so it was oh so sweet), but the size looks off its a little shorter than the standard size (Perhaps a Lady Parker or another model?) that is displayed on Parker reference websites. Just an addition the lead size is 0.9mm

Here are some photos, if anyone could help with the time frame (I'm guessing early 70s) or type of Parker it would really be appreciated :)

Edited the files a little as they came out dark from the cell :S :( hope that makes identification a little clearer.

I believe it is the mechanical pencil which went with the stainless steel Jotter ballpoint.

Thank you for a possible lead :D :) I don't believe its a Jotter, I looked through some reference photos and the Jotter doesn't look like a twist mechanism pencil, it has a longer back end where I suspect you click it to advance the lead. My mechanical pencil advances with a twist and you have to load the lead through the front end as well.

Tassie and clip look like Parker super 21.

Brian

Thank you for the lead :) I'll have a look and try to find some Flighter versions of the Parker Super 21, the tassle and clip certainly do resemble the Super 21 series.

I believe my mechanical pencil might be something that is termed as Demi? A smaller version of the original size, its been prevalent in some of the reference site reading that I've been doing.

I thought of taking a couple more pics, maybe they can help the search, I'm examining other options for Parkers Demi, 31,41,50,51,75, as well that look similar and those that were suggested previously by our members. It is very challenging to narrow down the mechanical pencil versions :D

After you pull the back off it reveals this, from what I kind find this is consistent with the Parker 45 series, I've been unable to track down a 21 Super mechanical pencil inner with the Flighter version.

@bsenn Thank you so much :) I did a recent ebay search for sold mechanical pencils and it appears that this is indeed a Parker 21 Mechanical pencil, I've found 3 (and counting) of the same look and I'm guessing that it dates from 1958 to 1965 as per from the guide on this website https://parkerpens.net/parker21.html (If the link isn't permitted please let me know and I'll edit it)

So incredible and so glad my Made in Canada Parker is in the early period of production from Canada :D as per our forum information on the manufacture of Canadian Parkers:

Thank you both to Parker51 and bsenn for helping me in this search ! :D
