Very nice pen! I especially love the Blue Hour, although the Martele looks really nice as well.

The balance, feel, design, and look of the Citrine is one of my favorite Montblanc pens. The citrine is an absolutely amazing pen!

It's a great looking pen. I have the 144 Tsar Nicolai but when posted it unfortunately marks the end of the barrel quite badly over time.

Today Postman Pat brought me an as new Dostoevsky with a medium nib. Goes nicely with the Chinese Blue ink that he brought on Monday.

A ‘Silver rings’ 149 OBB is winging its way to me together with a damaged 136 which will need a fair bit of TLC. Too good a deal to pass up the 136, which I know is going to be stunning once bought back to life. Well I hope so anyway! Come on DHL hurry up!

1950s Silver Rings, 1962 and 1985 Montblanc 149, Montblanc III a, 136, 234,5 252, 342, 344, plus some modern too....

I'd love to see a photo of the nib and tipping if not too much trouble. Congratulations

I'm tempted whenever I see a silver rings 149 listed for sale but I'm always too worried about maintaining such an old and distinctive pen to make the leap.

Look for a later model with a polymer piston head instead of cork and that takes care of the potential headache.

I have a couple 149s, most of which are modern except for a late 60s/early 70s era pen, which is a great writer and I havent had any issues with it.

I may not have been very clear in my haste. Apologies. I meant a later version of the celluloid 149. Towards the end of production when they were using the full groove feed, they switched to a plastic piston head which I find less difficult to maintain than the cork found on earlier vintage celluloid 149s.

Ah, very helpful. I should know this, but off the top of your head do you around what year they switched from cork? If not I will go find the information. I would feel more more confident maintaining plastic than cork.

'57 or '58 or so. Although with pens that were serviced the cork could have been replaced.

Just got this the other day.

It's a beautiful 139 with long ink window and Italian "fabbricata in Germania" imprint on the cap. It also included the original box and the original Italian instruction sheet (not shown, but safely tucked away inside the box).

Has anyone ordered from this seller, Jay Pens? https://www.ebay.com/str/jay-pens?_trksid=p2047675.l2563

They have a lot of feedback, and it's very good. But all of their vintage MB pens just come in a felt pouch. Is that usual for something like a 320?

ETA: More searching on ebay suggests that a lot of sellers seem to use the same set of photos for their vintage MBs. So that makes me more nervous.

I am pleased to say the Silver Rings 149 finally arrived after a tour of Europe - it is certainly more travelled than me in the last month or two!

On a quiet lockdown Saturday morning I have taken some pictures ( zaddick, I tried to take macros of the nib and tip) together with a writing sample for anyone interested - I hope they are ok?

The new MB136 arrived too and is as i knew it would be damaged. So that isn't usable, but it is on its way back to Germany for a new feed, it doesn't have one currently :( and service. I may well post some before and after pics, in the hope the after ones are going to be better!! Max, over to you :)

Its been a while since I posted pictures so let's see if i can still make it work....looking at them you may need to turn your head, but any who, use your imagination :)

From the South coast of England I wish everyone a good weekend.

After some shipping issues, my MB 3 pen Sienna Pouch in brown finally arrived. Sadly, it had a small tear along the side stitching. The seller was lovely to deal with, but the product was obviously torn before it was packed. I’m not really sure what to do about the review. However, I’m not willing to brave the local post office to return it, so I guess I’ll have to either just use it as is, or figure out a repair.

I’ve been buying pens, inks, cases, and journals like crazy over the past year. With all the shipping headaches and disappointments, I think I’m done with eBay in particular and non essential purchases in general for the rest of 2020.

A few days ago I ran across a nice MB Starwalker with a fine nib that seemed to be calling my name. It is a 2017 version with clear end cap. It is used, although the seller indicates it was only used once. I am hopeful that it will work well. This will be my first MB with a fine nib. All of my other MBs have been OBs or BBs. So, we shall see when it arrives, hopefully later this week.
