Well I was actively winding down my MB flock (well I got rid of two pens in three months but one must never rush pen disposal 😊) and many MB inks have now been sold. As I got to the final 'push' the FPN went off radar (act of God?) so that slowed me down somewhat and then, as if by magic, once FPN  'normal service had been resumed'  a message popped into my FPN mail box offering me 'something'.........(to be contd)

Tom, congratulations on finding such a great gift to yourself. There’s something about the bohème that really appeals to me and I would love to own one someday. You got one of the nicest variations, in my opinion. I wish MB would bring it back, or something else as inventive.

Tom — my question is answered — to a different post by you. Congratulations and Happy Birthday! I bought a NOS Boheme last year in Copenhagen. Such finds are so much fun! Here is mine. 7B3ED062-22A2-492C-9295-E7DDC14746D7.jpeg.2be9d284e08a2a8f89548a4cf131b84c.jpeg

Thank you very much for your sharing your impressions. In really like what you have to say about the Blue Planet ink. Sometimes I am missing a little bit of shading in the JFK Ink and a little lighter blue sounds good to me as well. So it should be a nice addition to the JFK ink and not a only a replacement.

I now reserved two bottles at my friendly MB dealer! :D

For a blue addicted ink lover the next interesting question for me is: What about the Elvis blue ink ... ;)

Looks like an expensive fall. :puddle:

I had the Elvis ink delivered about a week or two ago. I was a little concerned it would be a 'blurple' which I'm not very fond of  but it's a very rich blue. Blue velvet you might say.

Congratulations, Tom, for a very interesting and beautiful find, and for the celebration of your birthday! Monybalnc pens are dangerously attractive, and I also find that the Bohéme line included several beautiful and desirable examples. I was fortunate to find a Big Size Boheme many years ago, but I thought several times to add also a normal size Bohéme, in one of those peculiar finishes. Your pen is really beautiful.

During the time that FPN was unavailable, I bought this Montblanc 24 with a BB nib.  I love the slip cap, and BB nibs are my preferred size for everyday writing.  Sadly, there seems to be a problem with the feed, as every paragraph or so, ink will start getting scarce, and then suddenly the pen will burp out a blot.

Since I don't trust my own skills very much, and because the sections on these pens are so delicate and irreplaceable, I'll probably have to get one of the vintage MB pros to disassemble the feed and nib from the section and find the problem (which is likely to be some kind of clogging in the feed that soaking and flushing hasn't been able to remove).

Photo is with my 149 with medium nib, lighting chosen to emphasize the nib width.

Very nice! Thank you for the comparison image.

Yours truly writes with a 24 EEF and a 24 OF, both of which are outstanding.

I'm sorry to hear about the irregular feed problem.

After that's resolved, happy writing with your 24 BB!

I know that's not the topic of this thread, but do you have writing samples of those nibs? I've not gone smaller than EF in those pens(which does have a bit of an architect type grind) and my only oblique is an OBB. The big obliques seem relatively easy to find, but anything smaller than an OM seems scarce.

Montblanc M “red signature” (the all metal version) rollerball. Not officially opened the package yet, since it will be my Christmas gift to myself... but here attached a little preview. :)

enjoy! I have been mulling over one of these or possibly the red 'M' version...wish it were easier to try one in the hand before buying!

In terms of my own MB on-their-ways:  just bought a 1912 with a M nib. Which will help fill out my little collection--or ingathering? as I don't feel I qualify as a collector, lol--of Heritage pens, my favorite MBs so far.  Will keep company with the Egyptomania pens (black & doué), a marble serpent in M, and a black spider with a broad nib. I wish I'd found the 1912 with a broad. The broad nib on the spider is fantastic...!!!

Thank you! Good point, in fact - even if I have another two “classic” M (resin and Ultra black) - I tried this one at least three times at my local shop before taking the plunge.

Congratulations for your last addictions! Does the Egyptomania also have a M nib? As for myself, I’ve never used something broader than a Medium (I basically only habe F and EF nibs)... Maybe in the future, who knows... :) .

Have a good evening!

@A1979, thanks so much--the Heritage are delightful pens so far, and the Egyptomania versions seem to me particularly well executed (with regard to weight, materials, shape, & styling). Happily I've got my basic heritage nibs covered among them--an EF on the Egyptomania noir, an F on the doué, a M on the marble serpent, and a broad on the spider. The broad is beautifully stubby, with nice (& reasonably crisp) line variation. Each with a purpose, each with its own attendant pleasures.

Enjoy giving your new M a workout once presents are opened--a gorgeous pen to be sure!

The 1912 is still my favourite. A great nib, and fub features.

How is the nib feel compared to the egypt units? Similar spring?

@Cyrille81, thank you for the immaculate photos...even though I have a doué on my desk, your crisp loving images give me a new appreciation for the details. (In fact, I've oft admired your photo/pen contributions...thanks for sharing!).

One question for the Egyptomaniacs among us:  does anyone have a PDF with text & translation of the exact hieroglyphs on the body of the doué? Aside from knowing they come from the Book of the Dead, I would love to know more about the excerpt MB selected.

Hi jagwap, Thanks for sharing...so excited to try the 1912! What nib do you have on your 1912?

My impression is that MB has used the same heritage nibs across the board (1912, Rouge et Noir, Egyptomania), but I could be mistaken. I don't yet have the 1912 in hand, but it is on its way & should arrive in a few days. Will let you know once it does.

With regards to the Rouge et Noir vs. Egyptomania nibs, they seem to be the same nib, but with considerable variation across the different tipping widths. For example, my spider broad is much springier (as one might expect) than the F, EF, or even M. The F and EF might permit more give than I ask of them, but I am afraid the tines will become misaligned if I push them too hard.
