Zdenek: Congrats on your visit. I love this photo of almost black and white quality of the MB tools, amazing! Thank you for sharing.

One bottle of the excellent Irish Green. ... Two bottles of Beatles Purple are waiting for me there; I didn't carry enough cash for unplanned purchases. I didn't know the ink is still in stock.

Also I had an opportunity to take a picture of the box of MB service tools.

What a nice earlier than expected delivery.

May it be a reliable writer for you.

Thank you for the image.

Thank you for posting the image of the service tools.

I've never seen anything like that.

Imagine having the experience with such tools in order to master the fine points of maintaining Montblanc products.

Gosh! Thank you for sharing this. Fascinating box of kit. A rara thing to see.

Thanks. The amount of the tools surprised me very much. I have no idea about using the individual items except two of them. The fourth tool from right in the bottom row is used for unscrewing the nib; the tall one on the left side of the box serves for nib repair/adjusting.

This is pretty ironic since Starwalkers all can't officially fit converters and are only cartridge pens. Has there been a recent change that allows converters and Starwalkers to coexist?

Ordered an Egyptomania black ballpoint, can't wait for it to arrive. It will go hand in hand with my 1912 capless rollerball for work duties. Such a stunning and functional design.

Dear Tom,

thank you very much for that excellent writing sample. I really like your handwriting and it looks like the Starwalker ink and that paper is a nice combination. Congratulations to this amazing blue ink.

I am considering that ink for my collection, too. Do you know the JFK ink? This is one of my favorite MB inks. But is getting harder and harder to buy one for reasonable prices. I am wondering how the Starwalker ink is looking and performing in comparison to that JFK ink.

Regards

Christian.

i hope it shall remain my only 149.

Thank you for the post above with the handwriting sample.

I also write with Herbin Bleu Nuit, and write on Clairefontaine.

A Montblanc Platinum 149 is highly appealing to me.

Please enjoy your smooth-writing B nib.

I love your post and taste in handwriting equipment.

hello Tom,

it's the same vice versa, your posts usually are highly inspiring, and very much appreciated.

i now changed the ink to Pelikan Edelstein Tanzanite, which leaves a bit thinner strokes (= increased readability).

what makes the platinum version attractive to me, is mainly the shiny nib.

complements the yellow gold versions very nicely. see yourself:

Thank you so much for your generous comments.

The Montblanc fountain pen assortment above is pleasing to the eyes.

As I also write with Pelikan Edelstein Tanzanite, your switch to that ink makes sense.

If the B nib is agreeable to your handwriting preferences, it's sure to be a treasured fountain pen.

My only Platinum 149 is an OBBB, but may be joined by another Platinum 149 in times to come.

Your posts are a welcome inspiration.

Recently I bought a beautiful MB 144 with, what turned out to be, an extra fine nib and an MB converter. It needed a little cleaning and polishing and writes quite well with a little line variation.

All that for $112.00 including shipping. It's my second MB. My first was/is a 146 with a fine CI nib. Really a delightful pen to use.

Back in 1990 I had a 149 with an extra fine nib. I liked the nib and the pen was too big for me. I keep thinking that I want to use another 149 to determine if it still feels the same way to me.
