It is nice to see you having fun.

~ meiers:

Funny how one makes associations.

When initially writing with Montblanc Elixir Parfumeur Cherry Blossom, I thought of Michael R. and Pravda.

When Montblanc Homage to Victor Hugo Sepia Brown was first opened, I thought of Cyrille and you, Matt.

During the same boutique visit I also acquired a third bottle of Montblanc Lapis Lazuli.

Lapis Lazuli has become my go-to ink for daily study. It neither leans toward green nor towards violet.

I hope that you're also enjoying your Summer in Calgary.

Danish-made Montblanc 1940s Coral Red 212 EF

~ It bears mentioning that the petite 1940s Montblanc Coral Red “212” EF on my writing desk is a stellar writer.

Made in Denmark, FPN member and master photographer farmdogfan graciously arranged for me to acquire it.

The push-button filler is a joy to use. No EF nib on my writing desk is as exquisitely precise.

There's terrific feedback yet not the slightest hint of scratchiness.

Currently inked in Montblanc Petit Prince Sand of the Desert, it writes with effortless grace.

Now in its 70s, this diminutive coral red gem exemplifies Montblanc quality over the years.

There is a platinum version of this?

~ Uncial:

Of the Johann Strauss, Jr. 2015 Donation Pen, shown above?

In my limited experience, I never saw one in platinum in any boutique.

My memory is unreliable. I vaguely recall reading about a platinum version offered a couple of years after the original in gold.

I wish that I was able to provide more solid information.

~ A local collector tipped me off to a platinum Strauss Donation Pen on offer in nearby Vietnam.

I recently got my first EF nib - on a 146 Solitaire Sterling Silver Pinstripe - and I'm really enjoying it.

It's got me thinking - do pens with EF nibs tend to have longer lifespans than those with broader nibs?

So, since Pelikan and MB aren't announcing anything right now, and we can't show pictures of anything that might be, uh, well, you know... I thought I'd put up a not very good picture of some oldies but goodies. You're welcome.

Bill...

Seeing part of your collection has made me rethink my collecting strategy. Instead of buying 149 after 149 I think I might start collecting some limited editions. You have a very nice collection.

With the Upmost Respect,

David

What made you think that they would? Would like to know your rationale...smile.png

This is from a real nightmare a few months ago...

Short story: I got to the office, was going write. Pulled the 1912 with the OB nib and inked on Kon Peki, only to feel my hand empty. The pen wasnt there. I dropped it somewhere.

I lost my pen. Its the first and only time...

Other than that, i continue enjoying my pens on a daily basis.

Reed_thoughts,

Sorry to hear about that. I had the same thing happen to me last year with a 149. I never lost a pen and I am always extremely careful. I have 40 year old MB's that look out of box new. I searched everywhere. Good news is I did find my pen. Mine was in my car between the between the drivers seat and the armrest area. Somehow it became unclipped while driving to my office. Maybe worth looking there if you drove your car. What a heartbreaker.

Respectfully,

David

I know that you probably already searched for your pen everywhere, but really, really it is difficult to imagine that you lost your pen on the road. She must be in a place of yours and I wish you to find her soon.

I can imagine the disconsolate pain...
