Enjoying Montblanc Pens — Broad, Oblique, Extra Fine, Le & Bespoke 2020-2023

Hi, Tom! I'm a little skeptical about paying over $4300 US for a market report from a company that thinks OMAS is still producing ink. 🤭

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

The "market research report" can be purchased for just over $4,300.  This is an offer which has re-appeared over the years.

The fact that no one has ever posted that they purchased the report says to me that everyone looks at it as a scam.

Buyer beware.

Beautiful, but (gulps) SMALL?

Excuse my all caps.  I feel better now.

What an utterly complete stunner of a nib.  Lovely writer and writing!

Very nice indeed. I take it that the nib is a approximately in the region of 1mm+ stub?

As the pen has been used for daily writing, it was never measured to obtain such details.

You or others would know best any technical specifications.

It does write very well on a wide range of paper types.

Every ink used has performed well, thanks to the fine tuning within the feed.

I have a question for the experts who frequent this forum. With the current €:$ exchange rate, I think that now is a good time to order a Bespoke Montblanc nib. What should I get? I like the idea of a music nib or a large signature, but I am open to all suggestions.

I'm still trying to figure out how to list all my pens down here.

There are several Bespoke nibs on my writing desk. Another one is under serious consideration.

Each is so different, and so highly individualized, that it's hard to imagine what might suit someone else's writing and sketching needs.

Others may know best. Were it at all possible to meet Montblanc's Axel Nier, he's wonderfully skilled in matching the Bespoke options with individual requirements.

Knowledge of technical specifications? Way above my "pay grade" Tom!

Enjoy the pen

The Music Nib; the Small Signature (see @Tom Kellie's images above); AND the Large Signature.  After you acquire these pens, you should of course, come over and visit with the pens. I'll wear a bib and try not to drool on the pens.

Part of a Delivery from Fritz Schimpf    (Much else intended as gifts)

Lovely photography, @Tom Kellie! Some beautiful inks there. I have found the Zwischenlicht to be a particularly satisfying color, and like most of the Fritz Schimpf inks, it has wonderful shading properties.

What is the latest Montblanc that has graced your writing desk with its presence?

~ @N1003U: Thank you for your very kind post.

This is a second bottle of Fritz Schimpf Zwischenlicht, as the original bottle has seen regular use.

The shading properties may in part reflect the skills of L’Artisan Pastellier in Albi, France which develops many Fritz Schimpf inks.

The most recent new Montblanc was received in 2021, a Meisterstück Platinum 149 OB, courtesy of Fritz Schimpf.

A couple of months ago a 1970 Montblanc 320 Classic OF arrived from Europe.

As it happens, it's possible that within the next four weeks or so two other Montblancs may arrive from Germany, one with a narrower nib and the other with a wider nib.

Recently, preliminary discussions have taken place concerning a possible Bespoke nib to complement those already in use on my writing desk.

2022 is turning out to be more of a Montblanc year than might have been supposed.

May your own writing be highly pleasing in 2022 and beyond.

Thank you very much!

The lens was a Zeiss Makro-Planar f/2 T* 50mm manual focus lens.

It was mounted on a Canon EOS 1D X camera.

The high degree of craftsmanship on the Italic Edge nib is deeply impressive.

To see firsthand such attention to detail is life reaffirming.
