Dear Tom,

Your message brought me joy. It is wonderful to hear that you are doing all right. Dogs are amazing creatures. I am glad Diji is your faithful friend for life and that Yubi has found a loving home. I left my email address in a private message. Please feel free to write me. Take care, Matt

Tom,

Thank you so much for your recap of events.  Forgive us if we pryed a bit too much.  It is only because you are loved here.

I am glad that you are teaching again, and I am sure that your students really enjoy your classes.  May you and Diji enjoy your time in West Texas.

I echo DrDebG's comments. You have been in our thoughts Tom, and I am glad you have come through this challenging period.  I had hoped one of your students would be able to take Yubi.  Best wishes

Thank you for the updates Tom. We are all glad that You, Yubi, and Diji are surrounded by love and support. And that you continue to have a supply of fine paper & ink.

I'd be curious to know which Herbin inks you selected. My favourite is Lie de Thé, an ink which I used almost exclusively for several years. At some point in the last few years the composition appears to have changed slightly, I believe. It now works best after decanting & in bolder nibs. Alongside a rich Tie Guan Yin or a Milk Oolong it might indeed constitute the perfect autumn afternoon.

Best regards,

Flaneur

To paraphrase the venerable Mr. Jagger: Diji is a pooch of wealth and taste.

Glad to hear that you're doing well. I admire you for teaching in high school in the time of Covid-19. From a biological standpoint, Covid-19 is a fascinating, if devastating, virus. Thanks also for the update on Yubi. I was sure that he was in the care of one of your former students.

I'm still trying to figure out how to list all my pens down here.

Wonderful shots of your new puppy, Tom. I'm glad you were safely able to travel from China to Texas, although I will miss the pictures of Yubi. To lose a furry friend is always heartbreaking. And thank goodness your MB's weren't confiscated.

Stay Safe!

My mother, who always uses a Parker 51 with Peacock Blue Sheaffer Skrip ink, is 99 years old and lives in a Home for Individual Care. The family who owns the house has two Shih-Tzus. One of them, Twinkie, enjoys sitting on my mother's lap. My mother tells me all the time that Twinkie smiles at her. I've seen this myself and it really looks like she's smiling. 437D9E54-7752-45C8-82B8-D236F230AF6A.thumb.jpeg.05269f7d892236a11ca12e4a0009e6be.jpeg

Here's a photo of mom and Twinkie at Christmas.

Frank C, where does your mom get the Script Peacock Blue?

Unfortunately, Sheaffer Skrip Peacock Blue was discontinued when ink production moved from the US to Slovenia in 2002.  All of Sheaffer's inks were reformulated at that time, and the new turquoise is not the same as Peacock Blue.

The only place to get it now is online, at auction sites and places like that, and prices seem to be between $25 and $40 per 2 oz. bottle (some sellers try to sell it for a lot more!).  A few years ago when I noticed the online prices going up, I bought enough bottles to last my lifetime.

You are a very wise and smart person. I sure wish I had thought of that.
