I'm sure there must already be a "share your collection" post, but a quick search didn't bring one up. I sold off about a quarter of my pens- mostly entry level stuff and am working on selling off more. But wanted to share what I've collected:

fpn_1580750983__box_1.jpg

My "main" collection I guess.

1) Pelikan M1000

2) Pelikan M600 (potentially selling)

3) Pelikan M400

4) Montblanc Classique

5) Montblanc 146

6) Visconti Homosapiens Broze Maxi

7) Visconti Rembrandt

8) Delta Dolcevita

9) Delta "The Journal"

10) Waterman Carene Contemporary Gunmetal

11) Parker Duofold. International I think

12) Sailor Pro Gear Reallo

13) Edision Collier "Persimmon Swirl"

14) Edison Collier "Blue Steel"

15) Edison Pearlette

16) Pilot Custom 823

fpn_1580751265__box_2.jpg

17) Parker Sonnet CT Steel (potentially selling)

18) Lamy Studio Palladium

19) Pelikan K400 Tortoise

20) Pelikan K400

21) Cross Townsend

----

My standard EDC. Or some combination of these usually carried in 2,3 or 4 pen cases.

fpn_1580751400__edc_1.jpg

22) Pelikan M800

23) Edision Collier "Blue Steel" - Because it's too darn purdy to have just one. Plus this one gets a gold nib. The other one is a steel 1.1.

24) GVFC Classic

25) Lamy 2000

fpn_1580751698__edc_2.jpg

26) Sailor Pro Gear Sapporo (This has become an excellent pen once I smoothed the nib)

27) Sailor Pro Gear Reallo

28) Waterman Carene Contemporary Gunmetal. This started out as the rollerball companion to my first Carene. But I "partsed" it into a fountain pen.

29) Waterman Carene Black Seas. (I may sell this)

30) Cross Century II ballpoint.

31) Lamy 2000 ballpoint

32) Lamy 2000 Makrolon

33) Conklin Duragraph

34) Parker Duofold rollerball

fpn_1580751964__edc_3.jpg

35) Cross Century Classic mechanical pencil. -lives in my briefcase for those instances I need a pencil. The ballpoint companion lives in my car.

36) Cross Century II ballpoint - lives in my briefcase as an extra

37) Parker Jotter - lives in my briefcase as a loaner/ giveaway pen. I've got a drawer full of them.

38) Pilot Vanishing Point (May sell both this and the silver one to buy a grey one)

39) Cross Century Classic ballpoint

40) Pilot Vanishing Point

fpn_1580752155__edc_4.jpg

41) Cross Century Classic ballpoint. I carry this in my pocket at work for when I need a ballpoint on the go

42) Fisher "Bullet" - this is my casual EDC. It goes everywhere with me when I'm not dressed for work.

----

These ones are mostly just in storage. Some I use, and some I'm trying to sell.

fpn_1580755656__pack_1.jpg

43) Cross Century Classic fountain pen (selling)

44) Cross Century Classic fountain pen (selling)

45) Cross Century classic roller ball (selling)

46) Cross Century Classic fountain pen (selling)

47) Cross Century II fountain pen (selling)

48) Cross Century II fountain pen (selling)

49) Pelikan M600 (selling)

50) GVFC Tamitio - Possibly the best steel nib I've ever tried. Absolutely brilliant.

51) Diplomat Excellence (not sure which one)

52) Pilot Falcon

53) Pilot Custom 74

54) Platinum 3776

fpn_1580752487__pack_2.jpg

55) Lamy Al Star (selling)

56) TWSBI Classic (selling)

57) Levenger True Writer (selling)

58) Levenger True Writer (selling)

59) Sailor Reglus (selling)

60) Sheaffer Taranis (selling)

61) Parker IM (selling)

62) Hand turned pen I was given as a gift. No brand.

63) Sheaffer 100 (selling)

64) Waterman Perspective (selling)

65) Old Sheaffer. Not sure of the make, but it won't take ink. Trying to sell.

66) Parker Duofold "Lapis". Bought this for pennies on the dollar because it didn't have a cap. Thought I could find a cap for it but I can't. Writes well. I may try to sell.

----

Just some random ballpoints/ roller balls. Some have partners within my main collection.

fpn_1580752762__misc_1.jpg

67) Montblanc (144?) ballpoint

68) Unknown Sheaffer mechanical pencil. An old co-worker who knew I was into pens gave it to me. It works really well, and it's quite nice.

69) Sheaffer 100 "Ferrari" rollerball (selling)

70) Cross Torrero ballpoint (selling)

71) Parker IM rollerball (selling with the the IM fountain pen)

72) Waterman Perspective ballpoint (selling with the companion fountain pen)

fpn_1580752994__misc_2.jpg

73) Levenger True Writer rollerball (selling with the companion fountain pen)

74) Levenger True Writer rollerball (selling)

75) Pilot Vanishing Point ballpoint - it was on eBay for $25 dollars. Thought it would make a good companion to the VP fountain pen. But.. what's the point?

76) Misc. parts.

I had about 70 inks, and sold them all except for these: The 3 best inks in the known universe and 1 I haven't decided on yet.

fpn_1580753172__ink.jpg

1) Jaques Herbin Bleu de Minuit.- I may sell this one. Jury's still out.

2) Sailor Shikiori Yonaga - This bottle's almost done, but I have another in storage.

3) KWZ Azure #4

4) Iroshizuku Shin Kai

----

And the collection I'm starting out my 4 year old with. I have a Jinhao that I'm going to add to the collection since she likes shiny pens. I also have an orange Platinum Prefounte on order for her because she likes orange :)

fpn_1580753302__mia.jpg

1) Lamy Safari - my old Safari

2) Lamy Sfari - my wife's old Safari

3) Lamy ABC - Her first fountain pen. She seems to enjoy practicing letters more with a fountain pen vs a pencil.

Very nice collection. I wish I had the discipline to sell the pens I don't use anymore...

My go-to blue black is at present Edelstein Tanzanite, but swabs of Iroshizuku Shin-kai always catch my eye. I may have to buy a bottle and compare...

Thanks!

To be honest I don't use a lot of even my main collection, but I like that they're there when I want to use a specific pen. I can't see myself selling off anything that I'm not already listing. That EDC collection sees 99% of my use.

Shin Kai is my second favorite not just for it's colour, but also because it behaves well in any pen I've ever put it in. It's expensive as inks go but considering it's character and the fact that it comes in such a large volume I see value in it. It's my second bottle and I won't think twice before I order a third when that one gets low.

As much as I like KWZ Azure #4 I'm not sure I'll replace it. It's a great colour and it behaves well but I never reach for it first. I still have a bit under half the bottle left.

Beautiful. Mine is not nearly as large.

Thanks! Quality over quantity! A collection of 5 awesome pens is better than 150 Chinese knockoffs. There are a lot of pens in my collection I've got to get onto eBay.

Hi Bemon,

Nice collection. This is a good idea for insurance purposes. I'm gonna work on posting my collection here, too.

Thanks! Looking forward to seeing some other collections. I know there are collections out there that number in the hundreds. I'd love to see what that looks like.

Me, too. :puddle: Unfortunately, I've made the grim mistake of going through purges throughout the years, (I started in the 1980's), so I only have around 150 or so left.

I've gone through periods when I thought I was done with fountain pens and sold off the lot, except for maybe one or two. :(

I think I could pretty well sell off everything that's not in the first two photos or my daily carry without missing much. I can't exactly say how many I've sold- dozens but I may only regret one. And I'm not even sure I regret it. A Franklin Christoph Model 28 Libertas. It wrote well and looked good but I never ever reached for it. And someone bought it for a good price. I can't say I miss it exactly, but there's something about it I liked.

Other than that I can't even remember half the pens I sold.

Good Idea documenting your pen collection. Its something I have been putting off, but maybe I should get on it..

These days, most of my pens sit in cases and trays. I do have a Montblanc and Pelikan inked up, but, The last three years I’ve been pretty much fixated on working on my P51’s as well as using them everyday.. Gosh. I love those pens.

That's an amazing collection you've got there!

Do you like keep different inks in different pens and then use them together or you're one of those one pen a day guy? How do you ensure there are no spider webs on your collection :D

Do you have mostly one size of nib, or a variety?

Generally mediums or some broads in the case of Japanese pens. I've got the odd western broad or 1.1/1.5. I like to see fairly wide swaths of ink, but still have a pen be usable for daily writing.

What sparked it for me was getting my pens out of a collection of 2,3 and 4 pen cases. I picked up a converted cutlery box at Scriptus for a great price, and then tried to consolidate the rest of my stored pens in another 25 pen zip case I ordered from Goulet. Once I could see them all it made me realize which ones I want to sell and which ones I want to treasure.

Thanks!

To be honest, there are some spider webs on my collection. I originally had a collection of about 70 bottles of ink and I'd have random pens inked randomly. I found that I was only ever reaching for Sailor Shikiori Yonaga, Iroshizuku Shin Kai or KWZ Azure #4, so I sold everything but those three. I picked up a bottle of Jaques Herbin Bleu de Minuit last year for a little added variety because I thought I liked the samples. Jury's still out on that one.

Anyway, generally I have between 2 and 4 pens inked. If 4, then with those 4 inks. Right now:

Lamy 2000: Shikiori Yonaga. I rarely change this combo.

Edison Collier: KWZ Azure #4.

GVFC Classic: Shin Kai. I rarely change this combo either.

Pelikan M800: Jaques Herbin Blue de Minuit.

I pretty much constantly have Yonaga in my L2K, so when I'm only carrying 2 pens my other ink will be Shin Kai but the pen can vary. That's also the ink I tend to use when I decide to juice up a less often used pen from my collection just because it's 1) so well behaved, and 2) easy to clean out of everything. (Except the pro gear Realo. Those are impossible to clean).

So my regular EDC, or some subset of them get carried to work every day. As for the rest, I usually choose one to ink up when I've got something special to write like cards or letters.

Other than that they don't get the use they should. But here's to hoping when my daughter is a little older and I've got a bit more spare time I can get back to some writing at home and put them to work.

Now that's a collection! Is "White curvy thing" the actual name of the Levenger in your first picture? That's the one I zeroed in on first. Other than that the Yellow Sailor. I don't have any yellow pens and now I think I probably should... because yellow.

P.S.... that's my red Falcon. Give it back.

Great pens!

I don't know the proper name for the white pen. And, unfortunately, it was purchased too far back to find a record of the purchase.

Same problem with the one I labeled "Milan" -- I'm quite certain that there were two Italian cities for the colorful acrylic.

Well no matter, nice collection! I find myself liking the look of a lot of resin/acrylic pens for the colour depth. They're also warmer to the touch. But I like the heft of a steel pen. Solution? Carry both.

I started my daughter out on fountain pens recently. She's only 4, but she seems to enjoy working on letters and numbers better with a fountain pen. I don't know if it's the allure of liquid ink or if it's because she knows I use the same kind of pen. But she likes them and she's more willing to learn at home vs when she was using a pencil. She also likes her white board and dry erase markers, but she'll sit for a good while working out letters and small words with a fountain pen too. With the pencil she'd get bored before I could really even start teaching her anything.

Part of me hopes she takes to the hobby so I can get her something like the Edison Collier "Rock Candy" when she's older. I feel like I can't get away with it myself, but I still want to hold it and look at it under the light :)

...Another part of me hopes she doesn't grow up to ask me for $200 pens on a regular basis...
