My 1964  Plymouth Valiant weighs in at 2900 lbs and didn't have seatbelts.  When I bought my 2018 Toyota Prius it came with free seatbelts.  I now think Plymouth ripped me off and that is why they went out of business.  Neither of them came with an ink cartridge.

That's pretty cool, Sean. Congratulations! I like the teal colour (and the plum too). Thank you for sharing!

Congratulations, Sean! :)

Have you purchased a new P51 with a gold nib?

I'm still waiting for mine to arrive... though I guess the US orders seems to be fulfilled earlier than the UK ones...

All the best is only beginning now...

You're welcome, Como. :)

Hi all,

As near as I can tell, all three pens share the same feed and nib - frankly, it's hard to tell on the 51.

I will say this, though; while it may use the same feed and nib, it writes smoother and wetter than both the Jotter and Vector models. I would say its tuned and polished to a higher standard.

As far as materials go, I think the 51 is okay and fares better than the Jotter and the Vector, but I do miss the weight and feel of the original's Lucite - but I wouldn't think of it as a deal breaker.

With the cap and body being equal in weight; people with smaller hands might find it a little back-heavy.  I also wish the Deluxe version had an actual jewel in the cap and came with a converter, (I find it a little disgusting that a $250 pen only comes with one cartridge.

I think the street price of $87 is a bit high for what you get, BUT, if you can get a deal on it; the pen becomes far more attractive - and it IS an attractive pen.

I am expecting the other colors to find their way to my home. :D

Hi Red Beard, et al,

Thank you. :)

Yes. I succumbed to its siren calls last night, (just kidding). :D But with a 15% holiday discount and ink drop bonus bucks, I was able to score a Plummer Deluxe for $190 USD - at that price; I couldn't resist. My curiosity got the better of me; I want to see if the ONLY difference is a gold nib - or if the Deluxe really has more to offer.

It hasn't shipped yet, though. I'll let you know when I get it.

Hi all,

BTW, I forgot to make the notation; the second paragraph in the first picture was written with the OLD 51.

Is a tear down or under the hood pics available of the new 51?

Hi Hari,

That's gonna be a tall order to fill since buyers are not going to want to tear down their brand new pens and tech literature from Parker is probably all but non-existent since they no longer operate "repair centers" and most "repairs" are probably handled by replacement.

I think the only way you'll get that info is to buy one and disassemble it yourself; or con someone other than me to breakdown one of theirs. :D

The query was not specific to you. Some people do post such things on YouTube and blogs so if anyone has come across I was asking for a link.
if I do buy the pen I will take it apart if no one else already has.

I and many others have posted several under the hood type posts on fpn already. That’s why we say fpn is a great resource.

enjoy your new pen and don’t open it just cause someone on the internet asked you to. Bye.

In case you wish to write to me, pls use ONLY email by clicking here. I do not check PMs. Thank you.

Oh, I know that, Hari; few things ever are. :D

But if you're expecting something like one of Brown's tear-down videos with the Scotish accent, I think you're jumping the gun a bit.  Most people haven't even received their Pre-orders yet.

Thank you... and don't worry... theres no chance of that. :D

Best of luck to you. 🍀

Sean,

Congratulations and thanks for the photos! I was anxious to see old and new side by side.  Tracking info says mine is to arrive by Wednesday, assuming the weather doesn't delay it.

I am curious what converters will fit it. I am really hoping I can put one of my Parker 45 squeeze converters in it. It doesn't fit in the Jotter, but from your pics the new 51 is larger than that. It might work. It won't be the same as a 51 Aero, but it would be similar. 🙂

Hi Sean,

Could you, please, tell us what country of manufacturing appears on the new P51?

Is it France?

Hi Adam,

I didn't want to go through the hassle of taking a pic and uploading it, but I have those 45 Aerometric converters, too. They fit. 👍

(So do the cheap slide converters and the "Deluxe" piston converters that come with the Duofold).

I wonder if someone of UK-based FPN members has already received his/her pre-ordered new P51?...
