A 1950 burgundy Sheaffer Touchdown Sentinel, currently filled with J. Hebrin black. It's my favorite FP in my collection so far.

Lamy Safari, USA Edition (EF) - Noodler's Baystate Blue

Great match. This nib really needs a wetter ink, and the BSB ink needs a narrower nib to keep it behaving. Plus, the Red, White, and Blue pen screams for a great blue (or red).

For the most part, I used a Pilot Metropolitan M with Robert Oster Purple Rock, but I wanted to make some notes in the pages of a paperback novel, so for that I used a Shaeffer school pen F with Rohrer & Klingner Scabiosa.

Still in my ‘50’s mood, so I’m writing with these three guys for a while longer.

About to head off for a month. Reliability and ink capacity, obviously, main priorities.

These should hopefully tie me over.

Too many pens; too little writing.

So far today it's been the Silver Pearl Vac Major, F (I think) nib, with vintage Quink Microfilm Black; and the Plum Demi 51, M nib, with Diamine Tudor Blue.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

My Moonman M600S in brown has not been getting much love from me, since I received it a year ago; I'm not crazy about how it handles, but I also found no aspect of the output of the nib particularly pleasing or inspiring.

Given that I've been in a nib-swapping mood this week, and rediscovering that I have a Jinhao X750 nib that I actually worked on a while back but completely forgotten about, I tried to swap it into a Wing Sung 699; but, no dice, the curvature is wrong and it wouldn't sit flush with the feed. However, that nib seems to fit the Moonman M600S pretty well, so I've decided to give it a shot, and see if my feelings for my brown pen will change.

In the meantime, even though my wife has previously declined my offer of letting her have her pick between the two Moonman nibs than came fitted on our M600S pens respectively — strangely, hers was monotone and mine two-tone — after seeing my writing samples, she'd opted to pick a third option, and now the Moonman nib taken from the M6 (in writing sample number two below) will go into her teal pen.

(Oops, writing sample number three is from a Jinhao X750 nib and not a X450 nib.)

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

That is a lovely set of toys writing tools. It is a nice mix of modern and vintage.

I have never used a glass nib in a fountain pen before (only as a dip pen). How does it perform?

N1003U: Thank you! The glass nib is surprisingly smooth. It’s not soft or flexible, but it doesn’t feel stiff because the flow is good and I only need to write with minimum pressure (no pressure, just gliding). I also like that I don’t need to repeatedly dip the pen. As the nib is submerged in ink when not in use, the pen always starts right away. Safety pens are fun to play with, study and restore.
