What Pens Are You Using Today 2020

Just inked up my double nabbed PenBBS with KWZ Grapefruit on one side and Sheen Machine on the other. Too late, I realized that Sheen Machine should probably have gone into a broad-nabbed pen for full effect (the double nabbed pens are F nibs).

I also received a Schon Pocket Pen today, and after giving the usual pre-cleaning I popped in the included cartridge. It is still working to saturate the feed, so I am not sure what color the ink is (he sends random carts with his pens).

These two join my currently inked: Krusac L-14; Conklin Endura; and Pelikan Violet/White.

The two pens here, although not in the same class, have something in common; I tweaked the nibs when I first got them. The Sheaffer School Pen was a bit scratchy, although I got one in the original unopened blister pack. It was one of the first that I tried tine alignment and smoothing on, and it worked out very well. Hadn't used it in a few years, but when I took it out a couple of months ago, I was surprised at how smoothly it wrote. Sheaffer Blue Black cartridge in it at the moment, although I do have a converter for it.

The Pilot Custom Heritage 92 here wrote a little drier than I quite liked at first, and I got it to write a little "wetter". I have a second one with the same type of FM nib that I didn't tweak quite as much, and the difference in line width and flow is noticeable, although they're both nice. De Atramentis Document Blue in this one.

And the pencil is a vintage Eagle 314 draughting pencil, although I'll have to ask you to take my word for it. Thought I had it turned to show that, but I'm not taking another picture now. I don't "draught" with it, but I do draw.

Your post, ISW_Kaputnik reminded me that when my boarder went to live with his sister in Florida, he almost certainly left his two Shaeffer school pens, neither of which he had used in three or four years. I went to his desk and quickly found them. One was empty, and I don't have a syringe narrow enough to refill the cartridge, but the other had a cartridge in it. I assumed it would need to be soaked, but no, after all those years, it started as if it had been used just yesterday.

A clear demo Noodler's Nib Creaper, inked with Sailor Manyo Haha (I may or may not have bought the pen specially for Haha).

A Pelikan m215 medium, inked with Monteverde California Teal

A Jinhao 8802 (the pretty shell one) with a Bock fine nib, inked with Diamine Imperial Purple. This was my first bottle of non-black fountain pen ink and I don't think I'd cracked the lid in about 2 years.

Since I've bought my Sailor Pro Gear II, about a month ago, it's usually the one I pick to write. The nib and the writing are so smooth, unparalleled to none of my other fountain pens, so I use it most of the times !

Sailor Profit Large with a Naginata Concord nib. I'd almost forgotten how much range that nib has, and how much fun (and, on the flip side, how difficult) it is to try to squeeze different line widths out of it.

A nice little Eversharp / Parker 10,000 word pen. I've yet to get that many words out of it though.

Truth is I lose track after a while and have to start counting over again 😉

Helen, the way you present your pens & inks always makes me get the " I wants". I've always wondered about the Chesterfield. Where do you get it?

The company that ultimately became Berkshire Pens sold

Chesterfield Inks. When we knew they were going out of

business, I purchased several larger bottles of both the

Antique Oxford and Antique Yankee, which were my two

favorite colors. Chesterfield Inks are really Diamine inks

rebottled. The Chesterfield inks were of a reasonable cost,

so I did not have the shipwreck my budget to purchase

several bottles. It has been about two yrs, and I still have

about half a bottle of each, at which point I will locate the

Diamine counterpart. Of my collection, I own more Diamine

inks than any other brand. Still have quite a few 30 ml. bottles

of Chesterfield left in my cabinet. I do the best with the camera

I own and I thank you for the compliment.

Among others, a Kaweco AL Sport inked with Rohrer & Klingner's Dokumentus Dunkleblau. Note how it performs in this Moleskin Cahier: no feathering or showthrough. Stellar!
