Nice pen, looks to have an expressive nib.

Beautiful writing.

Thank you I can agree now after trying to write a bit daily that you can learn calligraphy/ writing hand in 3 easy steps...practice practice practice ha. This nib fits me better than my others, so I switch it into another pen from time to time so can be in a fun package to practice...

Regards, Glen

Used a Lamy Al Star 2017 Pacific blue all day. The 70 year old Eberhard Faber Permapoint Harmo-Tone was in the mail today. I've been using it since after an easy restoration.

today I'm back to a Platinum 3776 Chartles Blue. A deep blue.

And I was forgetting how smooh the 14k B nib is!

My Platinum 3776 Nice Lavande, which has a smooth medium nib, inked with Sailor Shigure

My Pelikan 140 EF, which runs a bit dry but works well with Pilot Iroshizuku Kujaku

My Pilot Prera F, with TAG Kyoto Kyo-Iro Soft Snow of Ohara

I don't have time to write much, because I take care of my 10-month-old granddaughter all day long, but I make sure to write at least a little bit with each pen every day.

For me it's bright turquoise blue. Not seeing any violet in it, although when I was using the pen last night I kept looking to see if I was seeing any sheen.... Haven't tried the ink in anything with a broader nib than an M.

It's funny -- I didn't used to like that shade of blue as much, but now I have a lot of inks in that family: Topaz, Diamine Turquoise and Havasu Turquoise, Iroshizuku Konpeki, De Atramentis Sky Blue (both of which are a little more straight blue), and of course my "original" turquoise ink, Noodler's Navajo Turquoise (it's a little greener, but really looks like the gemstone).

I suspect it all traces back to the queen of turquoise inks, vintage Skrip Peacock.

EDIT: I take back my comments about the Topaz unconditionally. I am also an idiot.

My bottle of Topaz sits on a self right next to the Sapphire, and clearly I was not paying close attention the last time I filled pens. Upon closer analysis, it seems that pens that I thought were filled with Topaz were actually filled with Sapphire, which still to me has a VERY distinct violet tone.

Ruth: you are right--I see no violet in the Topaz. It is a beautiful bright turquoise blue. If you lay it on really heavy, there does seem to be a sheen that might be violet (I just swabbed some Tomoe River with my finger), but it's hard to tell.

As Gilda Radner used to say (as her Roseanne Roseannadanna character): oh...NEVER MIND...

When I look at Edelstein Topaz (especially from a very broad nib), my first reaction is, "it's clearly purple." Then the longer I look at it, the more blue it looks. Very strange, and thus my question. It was an honest one. I have asked a few people, and some seem to see the violet tones, but most don't. To my eye, the violet tone is quite strong.

I was (a little bit) relieved to discover that in the Fritz Schimpf webshop, Topaz is described as a "Blue-Violet", so at least someone besides me seems to see the violet tones. Now I am curious do find out/speculate, why some see violet in the ink and some don't.

Visconti Opera, B nib, Robert Oster Bondi Blue.

Even though it looks gold in the photo, all the trim, and the nib, are silver coloured metals.

For a long time, this was a grail pen, for me. Just off the looks.

When I finally got one, I was so pleased. The feel in hand, was wonderful, and despite the metal section (yes, I'm one of those who find metal sections slippery and uncomfortable), the writing experience was fabulous.
