What Pens Are You Using Today 2020

Hoo boy, that changes all of the time. However, two of these beauties I'll be using for a while, as they are piston fillers and will not empty out very soon.

 

They are:

 

Pelikan 815 Metal Stripes running Pelikan Königsblau

PENBBS 500 running Iroshizuku Murasaki-shikibu

Pilot Juliet running Diamine Autumn Oak (this last one I purchased because of Honeybadgers's suggestion - it writes like a dream - thanks!)

Today has mostly been the Pelikan M200 Gold Marbled ( inked with Levenger Forest Green.

Going from the oldest to the most modern, from the top:

- on the Pelikan pen holder, a Pelikan 100N with a stellar CI B-nib (c. 1950), below it on the cloth from the left,
- a Pelikan 400NN (BB) and a 400NN Tortoise (M),
- a Kaweco V12 (superb CI B-nib),
- Parker 51 Aerometric (very nice B stub),
- Lamy 2000 (from late 1960s/early 70s) with an OF nib from a LAMY 99,
- Pelikan M200 Blue Marbled (F, steel) and finally,
- a Woodshed Pen Co. handmade pen with a Jowo 1.1mm italic nib.

Inks in use are Pelikan 4001 BB, Sailor Souboku, Diamine Eau de Nil & Diamine Alexandrite (non-shimmer version).

Ruth (or anyone else who might have a strong opinion): I have now used a few fills of Edelstein Topaz (mostly in that new M600 Violet-White, but also in an M215 with an italic nib), the ink has begun to grow on me. However, I can't seem to decide: is Edelstein Topaz a violet ink with blue tones, or a blue ink with violet tones?

However, I can't seem to decide: is Edelstein Topaz a violet ink with blue tones, or a blue ink with violet tones?

 

For me it's bright turquoise blue. Not seeing any violet in it, although when I was using the pen last night I kept looking to see if I was seeing any sheen.... Haven't tried the ink in anything with a broader nib than an M.

It's funny -- I didn't used to like that shade of blue as much, but now I have a lot of inks in that family: Topaz, Diamine Turquoise and Havasu Turquoise, Iroshizuku Konpeki, De Atramentis Sky Blue (both of which are a little more straight blue), and of course my "original" turquoise ink, Noodler's Navajo Turquoise (it's a little greener, but really looks like the gemstone).

I suspect it all traces back to the queen of turquoise inks, vintage Skrip Peacock.

Amongst other pens, I've been using a Conway Stewart Churchill lever filler, over the past couple of days. I have a fine nib fitted at the moment, and it's a real pleasure to write with. It's not a flex, but it has some softness, and the feedback is just right, for me.

 

Have it inked with Diamine's Skull and Roses.
