After some fussing between four or five pens, back down to two for my 2P&2I challenge: Pilot 823 (PO) with Noodler's Black and "Pilot Moon" (Moonman C2 with Pilot #10 PO nib) with Akkerman Blue-Black.

It isn't that I don't like having more than two pens inked simultaneously; I just feel better.... (Nods to Bukowski's line about cops ["I just feel better when they're not around."].)

i've pried open my pen storage box after several years and my project is to take the first pen, do one fill, write until it's empty, return it to the box and ink the next one and so on. you know, to acquaint myself with the little collection. i don't know why i'm posting about it...but it's fun to document each pen. and in case anyone is noticing, i tend to type in all lower case unless i'm emphasizing something.

this one on the desk now, is a sailor ribbed 1911 with a naginata togi med fine nib that i'm not even close to using to it's full potential. the color is pompeii brown which i thought unique, mimics the reddish brown color discovered on wall art in the city of pompeii. hard to photograph to get right but this is close. a dryish writer, it's more of a medium to me.

I haven't bought a new pen in ages, so I was happy to buy one last pen for a while, and got a Conklin Mark Twain Crescent in Peanut Butter, with a fine nib. The pen is an homage to our wonderful yellow lab, Peanut (...Butter of Sherwood), whose birthday was Saturday, and who we lost in 2012.

Today it was a Jinhao 992 filled with Noodler's Kung Te-Cheng. I'm still experimenting with this notoriously difficult ink and didn't want to put it into any of my more expensive pens. It wasn't very happy in the PenBBs 350 where it previously resided, but seems to like this one just fine – perhaps because a Jinhao F is wetter than a PenBBS F.

Lined paper makes a prison of the page.

Today it was a lovely Harris lever filler (Edelstein aquamarine), an Edison Mina (Taccia Ebi), an Opus Omar 88 (Bungbox sweet potato yellow), Parker 51 (Diamine Imperial Purple) and a Pilot 912 (Iroshizuku Tsutsuji).

Sailor Promenade M + Jentle Blue. A very nice writer. Also have a Kaweco sport raw in M with a Kaweco Royal Blue cart - also enjoyable, but not as much.

These are the pens I have inked up today. Left to right: Wahl #2 Gold Filled Mini Ringtop, Delta #4 Gold Filled Safety, Pilot 742 FA, Pilot 823 FA, Montblanc 149 Calligraphy Flex. Picked the Delta up from the post office less than an hour ago, so I anticipate I'll be playing with it most of tonight as I work on revisions to an article.

Welsh "End of Day" fountain pen with a not so great steel nib. Im debating whether to chuck the spoon nib and put a better nib in it.

An opaque grey Jinhao 992 filled with R&K Dokumentus Brown. A very reliable pen that never dries out, but today when I unscrewed it the cap cracked leaving the metal ring in place. Thankfully I had another un-inked 992 to hand so it's now sporting a transparent blue cap. Quite a cute pairing until I find some glue to fix the grey one.

Will work for pens...

In addition to my 2P&2I pens inked for the year, last night I inked up five pens, for play!

Pilot 92 (F), Artist Line #66 Cognac (super pretty from this nib!)

Pilot 91 (F), Iroshizuku Tsuki-yo (lovely juxtaposed to Cognac)

Moonman C2 (EF), KWZ Zielonozloty galusowy (IG Green-Gold)

Wing Sung 9158 (EF), Kaweco Summer Purple

TWSBI Vac Mini (EF), Pilot Blue

Don't know how long I'll keep these five inked, but I do not feel compelled to carry all of these pens no matter what (which was my usual MO until recently). In fact, for the past couple of weeks, when leaving homebase, I've been taking just one pen, the Pilot 823 (PO) (Noodler's Black).

The funny part is that unless I'm heading to a cafe, I hardly use any pens outside the apartment. So, yeah, one is more than enough generally.

I felt a lil crazy today and brought my Waterman 18 psf to the office with an ex fine 8 nib. It will end up getting cleaned out and put back in the case this weekend.
