Why Is Nobody Talking About Santini Italia Pens?

Sometimes they load fast but other times their loading times are frustrating.

Also for Santini owners, could you confirm that they are using a #6 sized nib?

Are the housing screw in type to the section and are the nibs swappable with a Jowo / Bock?

Santini uses a #6 nib. It is 34.3mm in length. The Libra is a friction fit. Whether other nibs will fit the Libra would depend upon their length and curvature.

Santini will happily grind a nib to your preference.

Add lightness and simplicate.

Also I just noticed that Santini themselves stated on their web that they use #6 nibs on the product page (I somehow missed it)

Oh, I was aware of that and I thought you were too, and that was why I thought you wanted someone to physically measure and confirm that the Santini nib fits a particular specification (of a "#6 sized nib") to which JoWo, Bock, Moonman, etc. all conform, since you specifically mentioned nib swapping.

The reason why I am interested is that there are other specialty nibs that is not available on the Santini nib selection. Thanks though for the information regarding screw in type to the section.

Perhaps you can ask the Santini team whether you can send them a specialty nib for them to fit into a unit of its proprietary nib housing, instead of looking at it as a DIY nib swapping exercise.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

I found this thread last night and it has been illuminating. The pens are, indeed, quite compelling and at a reasonable price point for what is offered. However, does anyone else have a problem with their website taking forever to load? I felt like I was back in the days of dialup connections!

It's suboptimal for sure. I ordered direct from them because I want to avoid giving eBay any money I don't have to.

Also, it seemed (maybe I just got used to the slowness) that after the initial performance hit it got better. eg: selecting a product took forever but then making nib choices, going to the basket, checking out wasn't bad.

Thanks for the info.

I know they can, but I am really fond of the nib performance I have in my possession. Just the right amount of wetness and writing performance.

Somehow I missed it, I fully understand that it would be too much to ask other members to provide the differences of the #6 nibs from different manufacturer.

Already sent an email to them regarding the issue, hopefully it is possible.

Got my Santini today... in short I love it and want to get another with a stub now... the rabbit hole is a labyrinth.

Here are some pictures of the pen and its packaging I got last week. There are lots more pictures I took but they are too big to share on FPN.

What do you think of the flexy nib performance?

Does it require a considerable amount of force to flex?

It is one of the softest nibs from a modern pen I have used. It does not require a heavy hand to flex and it has impressive responsiveness. While I likely wont do much flex writing with it (I rarely do flex writing) I think its one of the most capable of my pens for that purpose now (I like to have the option). Because of how soft it is just regular writing is a real pleasure! I will try to post better pictures sometime. I have a video on Instagram of the writing too. Edited by Gobblecup

I just got my 2nd pen from them. This time a Libra. It is so carefully packaged that I almost put it away without opening it :D

The more I deal with them the more I like them.

Has anyone bought one with their “super flexy” nib?

Yes, its a wonderful writer, on par with some vintage semiflex nibs, surprisingly good snapback and responsiveness while being squishy-soft.

All right, thank you for your response regarding my question.

The ebonite is a very nice material to look at.

I I just received my second Santini Italia pen, this time a yellow Toscana with a Stub nib. The pen is impressive, but the included note and test paper showing the sample writing is true service. Other Italian pen makers could learn from this (specifically one that has sold new pens that just don't write out of the box).

I do like the styling, although some might find it a bit too flashy. Sometimes one is in the mood for a basic black torpedo, other times one wants a bit of flair. This is a flair day.

It's a happy addition to the Smeralda.

As others have stated, the customer service is stellar. They've won me over.
