Does anyone know how this compares with the old Conway-Stewart Amber?

I chose my user name years ago - I have no links to BBS pens (other than owning one!)

I don't own either in real life, but online, they look virtually identical. If you look between these two images...

..you are given a good idea (at least online).

I think both from these photos and the OP's photos that the Santini acrylic looks to me more translucent and therefore brighter than the pictured Conway Stewart.

I have a Libra in a different finish, I like it quite a lot, and I agree with most of the positive comments so far. The only tiny reservation I have contradicts what someone upthread said - no bling? Well, that "pie-crust" edging on the cap band is just a little too far towards bling for my personal taste. The roller clip and the band at the piston knob are both quite simple, and I think a simpler cap band would have tied it together better. Just as a matter of personal taste, for what it's worth.

I don't think it has been mentioned yet that these pens have a screw-in piston unit. I don't see on the site where you can buy just a nib unit, maybe that will come later. In any case, this makes cleaning easier.

I agree, there might be too much "bling". But for me that is one thing I like about Italian pens. They are more "emotional" than many other pens. It´s not always the elegance of a Souverän oder Meisterstück nor the cool beauty of a Lamy but pure emotion.

And fountain pens are often not just writing instruments (maybe ballpoint pens might be the better choice for reliable writing) but part of your own emotion.

Regards, Ingolf.

Once the re-open send an email stating what you would like, and your wish will be fulfilled.

Add lightness and simplicate.

I think you're right - Though the CS material still has some translucency.

Currently, this is the only way to order their nibs.

They will be making revisions to their website so you can buy the nibs only in the future.

Beautiful pen and thanks for sharing

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time
