Montblanc Safety Repair

Perhaps I got lucky with this repair.

The cork seal is dead. Followed the manual for pin removal. Used a bit heat to remove mid section. Found some nitrile o-rings. Used dental floss to put three o-rings in place. Sandwitched between silicon grease.

Well it doesn't leak and it does write.

Hope this was a bit helpful for someone. I don't want to mess with cork.

Wonderful; I'll add dental floss to the arsenal - where it may take its place with toothpicks, WD40, and heat shrink tubing.

I am not sure how 10WD40 and heat shrinking tubing helps here?

I haven't tried that combo yet. I could surmised how to use a toothpick however overstretching the nitrile o-rings is not recommend. It breaks eazy as it is not as elastic as rubber.

Heat shrink is sovereign in servicing button fillers with screw-in sections in keeping the pressure bar assembly turning with the section so as not to twist the sac. Many victories this way. Also used to adapt thin replacement nipples to sections, etc.

10w40 is not to be used with fountain pens; its be no less a waste of good motor oil than is Imperial margarine. WD40, OTOH, loosens parts married by time and rust.

Toothpicks chase threads, clear air passages, apply sealer, and have a million other uses.

Now they are joined by dental floss; thanks your creativity!

I've found real pipe cleaners (the absorbent kind, both with and without bristles) to be invaluable in cleaning out small tubes and in curved surfaces. You can fold them, turn them into spirals, etc.
