Anyone Else Primarily Writes In All Caps?

I take it cr-p (this is considered a bad word??) paper isn't an issue for you? Or do you choose specific ink to help tame the bleeding/feathering and all that mess?

sorry for not answering earlier

At the office (when we used to go to the office...) I use available paper.

We get two types, A4 notebooks which have very nice paper, very fountain pen friendly and smooths (quality almost up to Clairfontaine, in fact I stack these up in my office cupboard whenever I can...) and printer paper.

Printer paper quality depends, since the purchasing dept. keeps changing brand (presumably according to best offers they get...).

In such case I do tend to choose ink to avoid too much bleed through. Diamine blues (Sapphire, Sargasso, Majestic, Oxford and few others) usually do not bleed too much even on such bad paper.

I still like to use B nibs when printing, I use up a little more space but notes are for me anyway, so the main scope is clear scheme of thought and future legibility.

I use cursive mostly at home.

The question of sharing printed capital letter notes with others being potentially offensive is a non-existing issue. Literally, no-one shares hand written notes in my office since ages. We either send each other an email (yes, even to the guy sitting on the opposite desk in the same office) or we send each other a whatsapp message (yes, we have office chats on whatsapp, more than one, divided by depts, or larger groups, committees and such.... We also have chat sessions on Microsoft Teams...).

Hand written notes are for myself only, and I usually take more written notes than others do...

Hadn't tried this with the 51 and Esty's before. While I still like cursive for correspondance, a nice fine point certainly makes the effort more easy.

After taking a shop class in junior high where part of the course was learning to use drafting tools and do up some drawings including proper labeling using all caps, I switched and did that only for many years. Decades. Later it evolved into a hybrid of all caps and cursive, mostly for certain letter combinations. Today, I mostly use cursive. Some capitals, I use the print version of the letter- H, K, O, P, Q, R, S come to mind and perhaps one or two others. I was one that did Caps and small caps when I did use it for my regular handwriting.

Those were ballpoint and pencil days mostly. I purchased my first fountain pen in 1998. I don't recall if I was in hybrid mode by then or not. I likely was though.

Today if I am doing all caps (not very often to be honest), I just use whatever pen/nib is at hand.

I agree with Old Dog, all caps cane be misinterpreted as offensive, however, if you are not sharing with someone else or the other person is fine with it, it should be ok. I have always used a medium nib for all my writing

**Zombie Thread Alert**

I have written in all caps (large and small) for the entirety of my adult life. No drafting training, just easier for me, I guess. I learned capital and lower case, and was also writing in cursive before I even started kindergarten. I once got in trouble for writing in cursive in 1st grade, as we weren't supposed to learn that until 2nd grade. I always preferred printing over cursive, though.

I've also always preferred F or EF nibs for general writing, regardless of style. I write fairly small, so it just suits me better. I went through a calligraphy phase in my late teens / early 20s, but haven't done that in almost 40 years now. (jeez ... that makes me sound old 👴🏻)
