Whats The Best Montblanc Pen You've Ever Written With?

Re: the Carrera.

If you find it, give the section a good soak and flush. Maybe it was all a problem of dried ink and that will fix it.

If you are to be ephemeral, leave a good scent.

I have a winner and a runner-up: I WANT to say a standard modern 146 with EF nib that I got when my local office supply store lost the ability to sell Montblancs and had them on clearance. I got it for a steal and LOVED it for years. BUT I have to admit the best, smoothest-ever nib and writing experience overall is with a 146 Solitaire Limited 75th Anniversary Edition also with EF nib that I have. I really want to sell it because I know its worth, but I love it so much that I can't! The balance and size are perfect. It's ridiculously gorgeous, and the best nib I've ever written with, bar none.

The 146 Solitaire Limited 75th Anniversary Edition's a beautiful pen! What ever you do, don't sell it, you will regret it!

The Montblanc Meisterstuck Solitaire Doue 146 75th Anniversary Sterling Silver and Rose Gold Limited Edition Fountain Pen is also a beautiful pen!

The only Montblanc pen I ever had was a Carrera i got from an aunt when I started school in the early 70ies.

That was a normal school pen for kids, nothing high end like a 149.

The Carrera's a rather cool looking little pen! :)

The first fountain pen that I ever had was one of these, which I got in 1991.

In junior school we were required to write with fountain pens, as it was believed that they were better than ballpoints for forging a good handwriting style.

Funny enough, I now have one of the worst handwriting styles I've ever seen!

Heritage 1912 B nib ... (my best Montblanc nib)

I don't have a big selection like some here, but I agree.

My 1912 is a F nib custom ground to to a crisp italic. Lovely soft bounce and control.

I 'dithered' and lost one of these a few years ago and so wish I had gone through with the deal. What I didnt like was a large chunk of my MB collection was going to be sacrificed to obtain this. They dont appear very often so not sure if one will ever come on the radar again........

Ladies & gentleman I give you the Montblanc Winston Churchill

My Montblanc 145 75th Anniversary Edition with the "EF" nib is the best Montblanc pen / nib that I have owned to date. I use it everyday!

My Montblanc 146 has a "M" nib, so it lays down a lot more ink and is used only once a month for signing personal checks.

My Montblanc 149 has a "M" nib too, but truthfully adds nothing to my writing experience that the 146 doesn't already address. So, my Montblanc 149 sits in the china cabinet as a relic from the past. I do get a lot of positive comments on it though, so it is still kind of doing its job. :P

I think, in my case, although my EDC workhorse has been a Slimline/Noblesse (never get it right) with an EF nib for the last 30 years, probably I should say that now I do appreciate more my father's 50's 3-42G. Formerly I was more interested in taking quick and/or tiny writing notes, filling forms... utilitarian use, and for that the EF noblesse excelled. But now that I can take my time to enjoy when I write, the flexibility of the 3-42G nib is a joy to use for paused writing.

I have a large 90's meisterstück, which is also a very nice, soft writer, but it is a nail. It is far from becoming a preferred pen.

If you are to be ephemeral, leave a good scent.

The best was a 146G with EF flex nib. It dropped onto the streets of Rockville, Maryland over ten years ago after leaving Bert Heiserman's Pen Haven. Despite hours of searching, it was never seen again.

Nick, Yes, that's a beautiful photo of my pen. It has been inked since the day I got it and has flown all over the country with me. I just love it so much!

I just love the attention to detail on the Mozart pens, they are true works of art! :)

When you see one in the flesh, you can't help but desire one! :)
