Ranga 9B With Customized (Extra-Girthy) Section

Just to quick post to show an interesting pen that arrived today: A Ranga 9B with extra fat, concave section. I asked for a section that was comparable in girth to that of an L-size Eboya Houga.

Compared to a Ranga 8B:

Very comfortable in hand! Happy so far.

(These are not Ranga nibs; both came without nibs.)

Wonderful! I love how the thicker section makes the step-up to the body diameter from the section relatively less prominent. Are the cap threads the same diameter as on the standard 9B?

I love how the black ebonite looks too, though I might go for the black crushed ice acrylic instead. This could well be my next Ranga if I decide to order, but how would I specify this shape to Mr. Pandurangan? Would he know which pen I mean if I cite "Fudefan's black 9B"?

I don't have a regular 9B so I'm not entirely sure, but from photos it looks like it could be the same diameter.

Their premium acrylics are pretty too! I'm sure that'd look good. Yes I believe he'd know what pen you're referreing to, especially if you send a link to this thread :)

That magenta (?) and black is stunning - as is the photo..... :puddle: What is the colour called?

Thanks! This is their "rose red / black ripple" special ebonite, aka S12.

well done, a very nice customization that meets the desires and earlier discussions about a Ranga pen with not only a larger body but also a larger section that the 3 /3C (without going into the huge body size of the 5).

As BlueJ says, I too love how the thicker section makes the step-up to the body diameter from the section relatively less prominent.

I usually suffer from the stepdown on pens, so this is going in the right direction in terms of design.

Willing to experiment one in future.

The solid black ebonite looks good too, is finish bakul or polished?, cannot tell so well from the photo

Hi, yes I think Ranga did a great job with this one. Very comfortable in hand. It's polished ebonite.

That black pen is really lovely and the photography is excellent too. I just got a Ranga (B in black/red swirls and couldn't be happier.
