What, no writing sample?

Congratulations, BTW -- that looks like a very nice pen.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

I would like to give a writing sample but my handwriting is sooo bad I wouldn't be doing it honour ;-)

Congratulations LouisDaigle,

What a beauty! That is a peerless fountain pen! The Grande Connaisseur is my favorite cartridge-converter filler of all time. At one time I owned several each of the 4 standard finishes, plus a rare ltd ed ronce blue. The black lacquer used to be my favorite & was a daily writer, but as I age, heavy fountain pens are no longer as appealing as they once were. The sterling, like yours, and the gold-filled one get far more use these days than the black or tortoise.

Your nib appears to be a very nice fine.

Curious. . . is yours US or UK production? It's engraved on the cap band.

Hope you enjoy it for many years to come.

All the best,

Barry

WOOG! And here I was, contemplating my 62 years, yeah I missed a few boats, but I rode a few too. So: Weird things happen to my money when it's just piled up in the bank, apparently beaming out deceitful messages: "Save Me? Rescue me! I've been trapped in this bank for years,I just wanna see the sky.. one.. more...ti...boohoohoohoo."

My car is the most egregious piggy, she can smell a sawbuck from thirty miles out. SO: By the Grand Order of Things, I buy STUFF. Only break-even or profit incl. shipping. Mid-range ($250-$800 or so) guitars & medium-upper fountain pens, many thousands in THOSE piggy banks - heh, heh - totally missed by the Spanish Inquisition and the PsychicToyota Gasket-Blower Squad. But I thought I was DONE, more-or-less. DANG I have a lot of guitars and pens.

Xample, Fave guitars: (bleep) Git Guy sees his hero playing a Zlodomatic. Runs out, buys a "zlod," plugs in, BrANGangBRAN..BRA... bra...."

"JUNIOR TURN THAT (bleep) DOWN!!!"

etc.

Story-wise, we soon find he DOESN'T sound heroic, but he discovers his hero uses Zipnorgy pickups! BuyBuy-MailMail-WaitWait-HERE!!! Just yank the (bleep) pickups out, stick the new ones in... wait a minute - what are all these WIRES FOR?!? SOLDER? Wadda mean Soldier?!? OH! The Shame Of It Alll... into back of closet, UNDER the foosball table, the barbells, join the sniveling symbols of failure. Damn thing just STOPPED WORKING, is what n'why for.

Two years pass... the guitar transforms from "goofed" into 'broken." And now Junior needs a new iPhone! And now, OUR Hero - ME - my Soldering Gland gets a priapic little tingle... heh heh. (TBC?)

Hey! Wait! Nice pen! It was actually, way, way back, when the Sheaffer NoNonsense calligraphy pen came into my life. AND, quite transformed me. If you ever get the URGE/NEED/ORDERS-FROM-THE-MOTHERSHIP instructions to WRITE DOWN some music, umm. Little straight up'n'down lines, with fat little "flags" a-hangin' off 'em. Mah GORSH it would be nice to find a writing utensil that didn't require you to scribble flags... them NoNonsenses were getting near ubiquitous there for a momo. Though more recently, those wiley Asians have blurbed out some lovely hard-felt-tip pens, disposables of course. But, as with everything else, "the computer" has crushed all opposition. Wanna trade your silved Connaisseur for a box full of NoNonsenses, mebbe 40 or so? Or sell? Otherwise, we COULD get married - that way, at least I don't have to kill the baby.

What is the weight of a silver Connaisseur?

As I read your question, I don't have a precise scale with me...

Curious mind wants to know, where have you bagged it from?

Online, but don't remember if it was kijiji, ebay or else... Got this one and a Targa 1087, both never inked, mint.
