I Am Looking For A Waterproof Teal

Starrfish

Recommended Posts

Hello

I love teal ink. Diamine Teal is my teal ink... HOWEVER, I need a Teal waterproof ink or water-resistant. If I can't find something that is true waterproof I will take a water-resistant ink.

I am getting a list together and then I will get try some samples.

So Far:

KWZ IG Turquoise

KWZ Iron Gall Green 1

Noodler's 54th Massachusetts (needs to add some yellow)

Noodler's Air-Corp. Blue Black

Are there more out there?

I need this January, so I have time. Thanks!!!!

You might try Noodlers Prime if the Commons (Pure Pens exclusive).

It's a cracking ink.

Koh-I-Noor document blue writes teal (or close to teal) when fresh. If you let it sit in the pen it may oxidyze and become darker, though.

If you are to be ephemeral, leave a good scent.

If you can handle the maintenance due dilligence, you can look at iron gall inks; Rohrer & Klinger Salix. You can also check out De Atramentis document inks and Sailor nano inks like Sei-boku; keep in mind you can also try and mix some of these inks to get the color of teal that you want.

I don't think of Salix as being teal. My first suggestion would have been 54th Massachusetts, but Starrfish has already discounted it; so I'm thinking that Sailor Seiboku might be a good one to have a look at (although I don't know how water resistant/waterproof it is -- I'm not a great fan of teal inks in general, so I prefer Souboku).

Sailor sei boku's color depends on the paper. In some it looks teal- ish , in others light blue. But it's very water resistant.

You're quite right, I was thinking along the lines of blue-blacks. But R&K blau permanent or blue mare may be more teal-ish.

Is Noodlers Legal Lapis teal?

KWZ IG Turquoise would be my choice, will darken with oxidation a bit, but will still have a fair bit of teal in the final color. Nice wet, and well behaved ink.

FP Ink Orphanage-Is an ink not working with your pens, not the color you're looking for, is never to see the light of day again?!! If this is you, and the ink is in fine condition otherwise, don't dump it down the sink, or throw it into the trash, send it to me (payment can be negotiated), and I will provide it a nice safe home with love, and a decent meal of paper! Please PM me!For Sale: TBA

One part Noodler's Bad Blue Heron and one part Noodler's Bad Green Gator. It produced a nice teal for me. YMMV. Get samples and save a little of each for tweaking.

Waterproof, laser proof and such....

Another vote for SeiBoku. It's a great performer and very water resistant, completely water proof with some paper/pen combinations. It is not teal like Diamine Teal is (great choice, btw), but has a definite teal lean to it. Sailor Miruai is far from waterproof, but will be readable (if messy) after casual spills.

Yet another Sarah.

I use my Iron Galk Blue Black + Carbon Black mix for these needs I just kind of had them 1:1 but really exact.

Which iron gall blue black? Platinum,,?

For quite some time I've been looking for a waterproof version of yama-dori.

Finally am happy with a 50/50 mixture of de atramentis document green and blue with a few drops of d.a. document black. It's teal, closer to yama-dori then SeiBoku and totally waterproof. As a matter of fact, it's anything-proof.

You can mix Sailor Sei-Boku nano-pigment with some Sailor pigment Storia Baloon Green to get a teal to your liking. There's also a Sailor Storia pigment blue, which could be mixed with their pigment green as well. I've done this with no negative consequences. Highly water-resistant and also fading resistant.
