Tribute To 139

Almost impossible to find in the wild, but sometimes the impossible happens...

lucky purchase from the local antique market :-)

Originally it was equipped with a rather worn 80s two-tone nib and split ebonite feed which I've replaced with a fairly current three tone nib and 60 solid ebonite feed.

Overall the pen is slightly longer compared to a vintage Montblanc 139. But it maintains the design very well and even uses the original telescopic filling mechanism. The material is celluloid used by Delta and Montegrappe during the last years also. It has some transparency so you can see the ink level when using a darker ink. The cap top features a mother of pearl inlay.

~ Michael R.:

You're spoiling us with such a generous set of outstanding images.

How does the pen feel in your fingers? Is it well-balanced?

I'm especially interested in knowing how you feel about it as a writer.

Thank you so much for brightening the FPN Montblanc Forum with such excellent fountain pen photography.

Outstanding! And that MOP inlay... glad someone got around to doing that, I have a 136 in need of refurb and it is missing the original casein(?) inlay, was planning on doing exactly that, as in, have it replaced with MOP.

As I have said a few times, it is amazing. I don't get tired of fawning over it. I'll take first spot in the queue when you want to sell or trade!

It is a 2000 Year of the Golden Dragon with a tasteful replacement clip.

Another lovely post Michael, if this pen was mass produced I'd say it would be a best seller.

Stunning and exclusive !

I agree, the 139 is a timeless shape and design, a primal pen. As well the 149, so recognisable...

Maybe, if you allow... just look for a ski slope and a vintage nib, pure perfection !

Btw... where is that local antique market ?

Have a close brother to your pen....

This is honestly one of the nicest of the homage 139s I have ever seen.

Also, would this be the grail pen that I've read you talking about in your classifieds listings?
