@dms525 that's a great looking pen, David. Congratulations.

Alfredo, thanks for showing the Audace

It was my pleasure, I am going to order two of them, the sand one and a black ebonite one, but with #6 nibs (as I personally prefer smaller nib).

As promised, here are some photos of the other two Leonardo LE's I bought this month. First, here is my MZ Grande 2.0 in PM1. It has a #6 14Kt 1.1mm stub nib.

I have several pen in Brooks Primary Manipulation 1. This one has very different coloration and feel. It is less dark. Almost etherial. It is "calmer." I love it. The nib is rather wet. I finally settled on Visconti Sepia/Brown as providing the nicest performance.

The other pen is number 2 of a very limited edition of 5 pens. The barrel is OMAS Wild celluloid. The cap and section are in black resin. This pen is fitted with a #8 1.1mm stub nib and a red ebonite feed. I haven't inked it yet but have high expectations.

I am!

BTW I have 4 Leonardos with custom ebonite feeds (1 blue, 1 red, 2 black) but they are all much thinner.  Have they made a change to the design?

Nibs are #6 or #8?

That is the feed for #8 nibs. Leonardo hasn't changed the design of ebonite feeds for #6 nibs.

i have not put much attention to the #8 nib and feed (since as said I prefer #6 nibs), however I noted that the #8 feed is very similar to a vintage Montblanc 149 feed, I do not know if there was a first feed type different from the present one.

@dms525 Those are both beautiful pens. Your PM1 has a very harmonious colour blend, and the wild celluloid looks gloriously sinuous. Congratulations once again

Thanks!

BTW, I just inked the Gran Riserva with Leonardo Black. This #8 1.1mm Stub writes beautifully - It is very crisp and very smooth, but not glassy. When Leonardo first released pens with gold #8 nibs, they were not available as stubs. I had a Broad custom ground, and it's very nice, but I'm delighted with this factory stub.

Newer member here.  Saying hello with my collection of Leonardos.  I’ve got a few more en route and a couple in boxes, but this is the bulk of them.  Thanks.

Favorite nib thus far is the titanium #8 CSI Broad.  I’ve got to try out a 14k 1.1 stub, and I’ve been using a titanium #8 broad as a daily writer.  The CSI Broads have been my favorite though- even like them in steel.

Almost all my pens have stub or custom-ground cursive italics. My everyday handwriting is italic. I have one titanium #6 nib - not on a Leonardo, and I am not fond of it. Leonardo's 14k #8 stubs are wonderful (based on the one I have). Here are a couple photos:

IMO, the Titanium #8 nib is the one I’ve found to be most responsive and smooth of all the Leonardo offerings.  I just ordered another Ti #8 in CSI Broad. I had one previously and stupidly let it go.  It’s truly a great nib.

I hope this is the right forum to post about my hunt for my Leonardo Momento Zero Grande 2.0 in Primary Manipulation 1.

I promise to take and post a picture or two of it when it’s firmly in my possession.

I first discovered the beautiful pens made by Jonathan Brooks after seeing the pen that David (dms525) got at a recent pen show.  Then, not coincidentally, I got an email from PW Ackerman advertising a special sale of a limited edition Leonardo Momento Zero Grande 2.0 in Primary Manipulation 1 that looked very much like David’s new (non Leonardo) pen.  The game was afoot!

I immediately put my pen in my basket and checked out, paying with PayPal.  I got the confirmation email in a few minutes, but shortly thereafter got another email saying that my pen was sold out.  Dang!  All hope was not lost, because PW Ackerman said they would contact Leonardo and see if there were any more of my pens in stock.

After waiting 5 whole days to get the news, it was not good.  Leonardo said they did not have any more of my pen on hand.  Double dang!

So, I started searching the internet to see if some pen seller might still have some in stock and I found one with a fine nib, which is what I wanted.  It was on offer at Atlas Stationers for a few dollars more and soon it was in my basket.  Here we go again, I thought.  This time it was an American seller, so I called them directly to get a verbal confirmation that my pen would arrive as promised.

I honestly had never heard of Atlas Stationers.  Has anybody here worked with them and if so, what is your opinion of their products and service?

I’ve read through this thread and thank you all for emboldening my desire for a Jonathan Brooks Leonardo pen.

Good luck with the pen. If I'm not mistaken, Atlas is in Chicago, and if that is who we are talking about, they are a very reputable business. As to the Jon Brookes materials, just be aware of one thing: there can be a very HIGH degree of variation in the look/color/composition of the pen from any you might have seen. When new models would come out that I was interested in, I finally started getting the dealer to take a photo of an actual pen (or 3 or 5) so that I could pick the one that looked the way I wanted. The PM2 that I have is waaaaay different than I expected and it took a long time to get used to it; I almost sold it but I really like the nib and setup. Other pens I either got lucky or had an advance look at one. I am hopeful that yours will be just how your eye would like to see it!

@Sinistral1 I can tell you that Atlas Stationers is a fantastic store. I’ve shopped there in person when visiting Chicago.  I’ve also bought from them online quite a few times. My recent TWSBI Eco came from them. My brother told me, after going there recently, that there is less office supply and more  fountain pens, inks paper than before. Atlas Stationers sponsors a Tournament of Fountain Pens in March when the NCAA March Madness tournament is held.

All the Leonardo pens  posted here are so beautiful. I like the Brooks Primary Manipulation color ways. Edison Pens also has some Primary Manipulation material on their pen models. @JonSzanto gave good advice on the Primary Manipulation material. I’ve not seen them in person, but looked at enough pens to notice if you have your heart set on the one in the photo, don’t expect to get it.

Thanks @Misfit and @JonSzanto for the sound advice on the huge variance in the Brooks Primary Manipulation patterns and colors.  I’m ready to accept my new pen in all her glory!  Actually I suspect that my pen (due to be delivered by Saturday 9-23 afternoon) might have been a return as it was only available with a fine nib.
