We all have our predilections and vices. People that think my fountain pen/watch collecting is crazy, will usually have nice cars, go out for expensive dinners, or take extravagant vacations. Some people have hundreds of shot glasses, shot guns, or thimbles on display.

I try not to judge at my age. What ever floats your boat (as long as its legal).

Well put. I wasn't upset about the previous comment, but I did mean what I said. While I might have a small number of pens that are pushing into the more expensive realm, the vast majority are pens that I purchased for a low amount and did the restoration myself. My largest investment in my life was the collection of percussion instruments I used in my career as a professional musician, and the sale of just one or two of those would pay for my entire pen collection. Believe me, I do have pen friends who can, and do, throw piles of cash on a purchase and it never ceases to amaze me, but that can't and won't ever be me. I'm grateful for what I have worked for, and use my resources carefully.

It was a leg pull.  I am sorry if that didn't come over clearly.  No problem with people doing what they want as long as nobody gets harmed.  What sort of percussion instruments? Like modern music things or classical band things?

awww...we're victims, it triggered something in me.

Naw, no need to apologize. It was a joke. I get tired of all of the sensitivity on these forums about nothing really.

Thanks.  had sense of not doing any thing right across recent weeks.  My English is sometimes not using the best phrases, lots of variegation.

I'll second Doug's general comment: I figured it was tongue-in-cheek but also wanted to make certain. The corollary to people being too sensitive (which I don't necessarily align with) is the preponderance of humans who have seemed to have lost all sense of basic decency in communication. In text, without context and until you 'know' someone after a prolonged period of reading their posting style... sometimes you can't know for certain. I can tell you that I've, also, felt misunderstood in the same way often. It's good that we get it sorted this way.

tl;dr: No worries, Aether, all good.

Sorry for my ignorant question: is the nib unit in the Momento Zero Grande "Mosaico" series friction-fit or screw-in?  That's the original MZG, not the 2.0, and it does not have the metal "cap" around the bottom end of the section.  The steel nib version, if that makes a difference.  I know the standard size Momento Zero and Furore nib units are threaded, but I'm not sure if the Grande 1.0 version is friction-fit, like the 2.0.

I ask because I want to get custom ebonite housing for a Sailor 21K nib from Flexible Nib Factory, but it'd only be compatible with a screw-out type of JoWo housing for dimensions/fit.

Edit: after a bunch of research, it appears that MZG has a glued-in housing, so sadly swapping it out would not be possible.

I may have posted photos of this pen already, but I inked it again recently and took these photos, so, if they are redundant, so be it.

This model was called the "Tropical," but it could have been called the "Pesto Genovese," I think.

I think the Momento Magico is my favorite Leonardo pen model by far.  Ink window, cool cap band option, very comfortable size: large by not too large.

I agree for "everyday carrying." I find the slightly larger MZ Grande pens very comfortable for long writing sessions, but they don't fit securely in most of my shirt pockets.

Ah I find the size of non-Grande more comfortable for my grip, so Momento Magico is altogether my perfect pen :D  I also find Grande aesthetically to be a too long.  I keep wanting to chop off 3/4 of an inch from my MZG Mosaico.

A bowl of verdant Leonardos under a blue sky with scattered clouds.

Lovely.  I didn't know that they made the mosaic in green.

Thanks, Doug! The green mosaic uses the same spaghetti resin used in the MZG Baobab. It has more green and less blue than I expected and more yellow.

This MZG "Cielo Blu" is quite different from the materials I generally expect from Leonardo. If clown fishes came in blue and white ...

The nib is a #8 gold Bock 1.4mm stub that I asked Salvatore to grind to a smooth cursive italic he calls "CSI" that writes a 0.9mm line. He did a great job, as expected. Note the spiffy blue ebonite feed.

What a striking and crisp combination!  I love the blue ebonite nib on it as well!

From the photos I have seen, this was the prettiest of Leonardo's MZG Mosaico pens:

The stub nib is a very smooth writer. It might be crisper with a drier ink, but Leonardo's recently released "Smeraldo" (Emerald) ink is a lovely color.

A new Koi has joined the Black Cherry.  This one is Calico.  I dislike the steel nib it came with, scratchy, hard, and on the dry side.  I'll try to massage it but i think replacement with something better is the way to go.

Pretty material! Too bad about the nib. What width is it?

Fortunately, the steel nibs in Momento Magico pens are screw in JoWo's, so easily swapped, if you can't fix it.
