I appreciate the side by side with #6 and #8 nibs exposed.  I'm surprised by how close in size they appear due to seating.

My understanding is that the size of a nib (#5, #6, #8) has to do with the width, not the length, although I am not sure where the width is measured.

Indeed, the diameter of the feed is the appropriate measurement.  Usually, the length tends to be substantially larger as well.  Although, Jowo #8s did not follow this trend.

In your pictures, you can see that the #6 is seated further out due to ink/wear like on the nib and the #8, is seated fairly deeply, with the Hallmark partially hidden.  The tines seem to be nearly the same length as well.  Again, very much appreciated this photo!

Oooh, is that a vintage flex installed, @penwash?

I know it's not to everyone's taste, but I'm quite happy that Leonardo uses threaded JoWo nibs now since it's becoming a lot easier to get compatible housings made for a variety of nibs.

@mauckcg beautiful collection. Those celluloids 🥰 Which one is the in the very last photo? Is it violet in color?

It's a Speranza in Etna ebonite.  It's a mix of green, blue, red and pinkish.

Yes, it's installed with a different feed (ebonite) inside the JoWo nib unit. So it's quite easy to unscrew and replace the nib unit with another nib unit if needed be.

I'm planning on doing something similar, only the opposite end of the nib spectrum as I'm getting feeds/housing made for some vintage smooth nails.

Sounds like a plan. What's the spec. of the custom housing, and which vintage nail are you planning to put on it?

JoWo #6 housing. A couple of old Sheaffer nibs pulled from ok-condition pens. They're with Joey at FNF to get housings and possibly new feeds.

My Blue Momento Zero Grande Art Deco 2021 arrived last night. There is a lot (!) to like about it - the overall design,  the very attractive cap band, the stunning cobalt blue color, the new style of section. And it writes beautifully out of the box.

When i placed the pre-order, I was unaware that this release is significantly longer and somewhat heftier than the other MZ Grandes. It is very comfortable to write with, but it will never be carried in a shirt breast pocket! Here's some eye candy:

And, to give you a better notion of the size, here is this pen along with a MZ Grande Dark Hawaii and a Pelikan M800.

Now, to try to avoid buying the red one! (I think I can. I think I can. ...)

I post this pen 1.5 months after I got it, this is the time I needed to recover from the shock when my wife gifted it to me for my birthday: I could not believe that she asked Salvatore which pen I would have liked.

@francolau I'm with como. Both the pen and the wife are keepers. Having a wife who buys you pens like that is a priceless .... accessory. 😆

Happy writing!
