Congratulations, mizgeorge! Beautiful pen and really interesting ink.

Enjoy them in good health.

Happy writing!

This pen is coming up on it's first birthday: a Momento Zero Grande in Jonathon Brooks well-known acrylic Primary Manipulation. I don't have the photo skills or setup to capture the depth of the material, but it is remarkable to the eye.

LOI crafts pens of quality, and the fit and finish is perfect. Nib is a 14k #8 in medium, writes just right, and the nib and hardware are finished in ruthenium plating. Very happy to use this nearly ever day.

Couple quick shots of what came in the mail today.  Need some warmer weather so i can get outside with something other than my phone for pictures.

#8?? Did Salvatore make a custom pen for you? An extra section? A typo?

Oh, yeah. Gorgeous pen, well-suited to your conservative tastes. 😉

David

They do make custom pens.  I keep seeing them but have no idea how to order one.

First basic attempt at capturing my new LOI MZG Golden Rule. The depth of the material and color play are a challenge for my poor photo skills and simple phone, but the pen is worth the effort. When I do a real set of shots I'll detail the pen a bit more. Very pleased with this, and a big shout to Marco of Casa della Stilografica for fulfilling a personal ask.

That's one of the nicest ones I've seen of these Jon - and the red feed too! Nice catch :)

(I still don't like that trim ring though)

Thanks, it's been a real mini-journey! This makes two, now, with the ring - this one GP, the other rhodium. I used to be concerned about section-end trim rings but a couple of Pelikans got at least to 'not flinching'. Time will tell, I suppose, but at least I didn't get this pen when I was in my 20s.

Nice pen, Jon. Yours has a lot more red than mine.

Thank you, David. On so many of the newer finishes and materials of pens, you are playing a bit of roulette, as you don't really know what it will look like until it is in your hands. I'd love to be able to source these at pen shows, etc, but you can only play by the rules of the game at the moment. In this case, the pen is very close to how I had hoped it would be, and I am satisfied with it. Well, more than satisfied!

For some, having a pen made out of a material that produces an unique product for each instance is attractive. For others, having the certainty of a standardized appearance is more attractive.

Whichever group you fall into, being able to see, feel and, when possible, write with a pen you are considering is much to be preferred to our current pig in the poke shopping. Well, maybe it's more like the blind men and the elephant. Elephant in the poke? Okay. Need more coffee now.

I just received a pen I had been considering for over a year. It does have a customized nib. Well, I don't especially like the tactile aspect of it. (It is a guilloché resin.) The visual appearance exceeded my expectation. The writing experience is marvelous. I expect I will use it a lot. If I had just picked it up at a pen show, I don't think I would have bought it, since I would have experienced the tactile but not the writing.

The morale of the story? Life is a cR*p shoot with no eyes on the dice. (I think I just coined a cliché.)

Speaking of unpredictable patterns I bought two of the Leonardo Musis edition - the red/black (Pompeii) and the teal/lime (Oplontis). The #8 nib was a revelation to me and it adds a pleasant springiness which makes inks shade nicely. Both of mine are EF nibs and the line is ideal for my taste and they write very smoothly. I am very happy with these pens (hence why I went back for a second one). I believe the #8 nib is now an option on all Momento Zero Grande models.

Thanks, Bill. Tough one to photograph and every angle presents new looks. That's just one of the aspects that makes Brooks' materials so compelling.

Nice, I've been watching these, I think I could enjoy the straight section

An oldie but a goodie.

Am I the only one who prefers the look of the original MZG? There is something about the blind cap filling system which just does it for me. Of course I love the newer “Pistone” versions as well with their true piston, but nonetheless...
