Identification Of Platinum Pocket Pen

Hello everyone,

 

I bought a Platinum Pocket Pen a few months ago whose model name I don't know but would love to find out. I look forward for help and thank you.

I read some topics here on FPN on Platinum and Pilot pocket pens, found old advertisements but can't identify it assuredly.

 

Some characteristics are:

- made by Platinum

- black body with gold trim

- 14k nib

- accepts modern Platinum cartdridges but not converters

- lenght closed ~11,9cm, lenght open ~10,3cm, lenght posted ~14,9cm

- the trim on the clip and cap looks more yellowish than the ring on the body

Theyre very nice pens alright, I used to have one myself. Dirck Delint identifies it as the PKB2000 on his Ravens March site: http://dirck.delint.ca/beta/?page_id=8566. There were loads of different pocket pen models, though, so I doubt you can ever be 100% sure. Bruno Tauts site also has quite a bit on these long-short pens and is worth a look too: https://estilofilos.blogspot.com

But I'm pretty sure it isn't the PKB-2000 as the clip looks different although similar, plastic around the nib is shaped differently and the nib is 14k instead of 18k. I will search on however, thanks.

in old platinum catalogue there 2 pens with similar looks marked as PKT-3000 (overall pen body and nib opening) and cap is clearly from PKB-3000 model, not sure if they used same number for 14k and 18k models though, but it's definitely not an PKB-2000
considering that you have the trim ring attached in backwards manner (it should be invisible when cap is on and not when it's posted), so someone who sold it to you clearly disassembled it and reassembled it wrongly using cap from different model, though i cannot say all of this with 100% confidence but i already seen this practice many times with platinum/sailot/pilot short pens, so it's possible.
cool pen tho anyway, and in good conditions as i can see, congratulations on the purchase
