Omas Extra Piston Problem

I have a problem with an Omas extra from about 1946.

The turning nob will no set and the piston turns too far so the upper part gets stuck in the barrel.

any suggestions?

I am assuming you mean the piston knob will not screw in all the way? If so, have you cleaned the inside threads of the barrel where the piston enters? I soak in water for a few hours and then use a dental pick to clean it. Same for the outer threads on the piston itself. I put some silicone grease and then try.

 

Also, I am assuming you are putting some silicone grease on the piston head (cork) so that it moves smoothly inside?

Proved to be the perfect solution. i have been writing with it for a day now. what a bit of silicon grease can't do!
