A couple of 3 1/2" Japanese pens...

No makers name on the bodies, but the steel nibs are marked The Banira. The Kokeshi dolls are a really cute feature.

These are adorable and so Japanese! Do the dolls hit your hand when you write?

Yes, it does sound a bit of a faff, doesn't it.

I think that there are a couple of threads about the wearing of ring tops. It might be worth searching for them.

So there is! In case anyone else is interested, here's the link :

Here are a couple more interesting ones:

A Moore's Non-Leakable Midget measuring 3.75in capped and a quite unusual syringe-filler measuring 3.5in capped and with a barrel diameter of just under 7mm (0.27in). I believe the syringe-filler to be a very early promotional pen. (Edit: apologies for the terrible white balance! It's a while since I've taken any pics indoors and I now need to re-learn how to use my camera! )

My pocket EDC.

Love the minimalism of this one!

I took a picture of that Doric and its busted nib:

That's a beaut! Have you got the rest of that nib? Is it just the tabs that connect the slider to the nib that are lost?

Thanks for taking the time to share these!

Absolutely no apology necessary. Eyes entirely focused on the nice collection of D's.

Edit to inquire do you use these? How do they compare to other small pens? My few include surprisingly comfortable with semi-flex Wahl, to tiny little nail but beautiful Sheaffer, sought after Parker also nail but smooth.

I do use the Dinkies (and the other vintage pocket pens), but only occassionaly, and at home. Over time, they are becoming more difficult to find, and so I use the more robust and easier to replace modern Chinese pocket pens. I find them fine to use...just a different feel in the hand. Generally the nibs have some spring, while one or two have some flex.

One of my favourite flex nibs is on a pocket pen. It's a Waterman 452 1/2 overlay...quite superb.

I find that while the pen is off the paper, the doll rolls around the back of the hand, quite charming really...and when writing, the doll seems to find its place, and stays there.

The steel nibs are fine / extra fine, and have a slight amount of softness.

It's great to see so many really interesting, and beautiful pens.

Thanks for sharing, all.

No trace of a slider, but that leaves you with an extraordinarily flexible nib. I subsequently bought a wreck of a Doric with a similar nib...they’re not to be despised.

I can believe that! In effect you have the equivalent of one of those very early, flexy, swan-necked gold dip pen nibs only better as I'm sure yours has much better iridium than the dip pen nibs had.

Sturdier, too. I used that pen at a group book-signing a couple years back and it performed beautifully.

Late to the thread but these are the smallest ones I have plus one ringer for comparison. All are fully functional and all are far too small to be comfortable writers with my hands.

From top to bottom:

“Made By The Makers of Eversharp” bulb filler. 97 mm. This is my smallest pen with a pocket clip.

Grieshaber Baby Grand lever filler. 80 mm.

Ever-Rite lever filler. 65 mm. The smallest pen I own.

Grieshaber dropper filler. 70 mm. Ringtop with a missing ring.

Wahl Pen lever filler. 80 mm.

Unknown (W in a laurel wreath marking on nib) dropper filler. 72 mm.

Parker “51”. 136 mm (For comparison).

Woohoo - just found a 3.75inch gold filled Swan clipless lever-filler with a double broad oblique very flexy nib that had somehow found its way into my 'time to get rid of these'-box!!
