Hi, Folks!

This is a National Pen Products Company ringtop fountain pen in black and cream c. late 1920s. The National Pen Products Company was founded in Chicago, Illinois in the 1920s and also made pens and pencils under the Gold Bond and Gold Medal names, as well as under contract for Sears and Montgomery Ward. This 4 7/16 inch long ringtop shows typical ambering of the cream portion of the celluloid. All trim was gold plated and this example shows significant wear. It features a warranted 14 karat gold nib. The barrel is stamped NATIONAL PEN PRODUCTS CO next to GOLD MEDAL PEN in a circle next to CHICAGO ILL.
Let's see how many more examples we can show!

Hi, Folks!

This is a Gold Medal fountain pen and pencil combination in green marble celluloid c. 1930s. Gold Medal was a brand of National Pen Products, incorporated in 1922 with 10,000 shares with E. P. Marum as President, on 540 S. Clark Street, Chicago. The company trademarked the name Gold Medal in 1925. This 5 7/8 inch long lever fill pen features gold filled trim showing typical plating loss. The clip is stamped GOLD MEDAL. The barrel is stamped NATIONAL PEN over PRODUCTS CO. next to the Gold Medal Pen logo next to CHICAGO over – ILL. -. The nib is stamped GOLD over MEDAL over PEN.

Can anyone shed more light on these pens?

Hi, Folks!

This is a National Pen Products flat top fountain pen in jade green celluloid c. late 1920s. National Pen Products was incorporated in 1922 with 10,000 shares with E. P. Marum as President, on 540 S. Clark Street, Chicago. This 5 1/8 inch long pen has no maker's marks anywhere on the cap, clip, barrel or nib. The flower stamping on the nib was used by National Pen Products for lines of lower cost pens and pencils sold alongside their Gold Medal brand pens. Catalog pages c. 1934 show several balance type pens with this same clip and warranted 14 karat gold nibs as "Made by the makers of the famous Gold Medal pens." This example features a warranted 14 karat gold nib.

I think Sears' "Webster" branded pens were made by National Pen Products. I have the Webster Gold Crown that my father seems to have used in college in the mid 1950s, but unfortunately it's missing the cap, with its distinctive "gold crown".

Hello All, Here are the two National pen products pens I have. I think they are from the 1920's.

The larger pens imprint says "The Lincoln Pen" and "National Pen Products Co, Chicago". measures 5 1/2" inches long capped. Has a #8 14K Warranted Nib installed.

The smaller pen imprint read "National Pen Products Co, (Gold Medal Pens) Chicago". Measures 4 1/4" long capped. Gold Medal Pen nib installed.

Those pens are beautiful. As the pens get away from hard black rubber, I think they become much more interesting and attractive.

pajaro, I agree the photos real don't do justice to the pens. The Lincoln is a great writer.
