Quality Spiral Notepad Available On Us Amazon

Hi guys,

 

I am from the UK but recently started working in the USA, I am unfamiliar with most of the US paper brands and don't want to import notebooks from Europe so thought I would ask for recommendations here. It originally took me a fair amount of experimentation to find my favourite notebooks for work in the UK (me being a bit fussy).

I like lined spiral notebooks with paper good enough to write on both sides with an FP, obviously without bleed-through or feathering etc etc.

I don't mind but also don't need perforations or punched holes but optionally do like a bit of tabs / colour coding.

The notebooks I have been using are the following Clairefontaine ones which I can get in the US - to be honest though, although the paper is nice white 90 g/m2 it is not perfect as the coating does mean start-up / dry up issues occasionally. I can get these in the US, but my guess is you have something better

Could any of my US friends recommend a good quality spiral wound hard back notebook with nice paper I can order on Amazon.com?

It seems to me (I'm not in the US) that it is pretty easy to get Japanese notebooks around Amazon US, specially Kokuyo.

Yes, Kokuyo are very good options! Depending on the kind of notebook you get, Kokuyo has Sarasara paper, which is smoother, and Shikkari paper, which is toothier.

They make really good paper.

I'm actually buying their Smart Binder right now - a notebook that opens its spirals to let in/let out pages. It's my thing, customizable notebooks.

Other options include Rhodia, Maruman Nemosyne, and if you don't mind, Red & Black is Oxford Optik paper that, even though it's 90gsm, is very good paper I can attest for as I use it everyday in college.

For what its worth I order Japanese paper through jetpens.com in the USA. And also a big fan of the Maruman Mnemosyne and, if you would be ok with stitch binding as opposed to spiral, also a fan of Midori MD notebooks.

 

You can also check out Nanami, but I dont think the have many spiral bound notebooks.

If there's a Walmart near you, check out the Pen and Gear notebooks! They have different colored plastic covers and a wirebound spiral binding, with a paper pocket page as the first page! From my experience, they're consistent in quality and cheap, and good if you really don't need and don't want to pay for very nice stuff

I don't know whether it is available in the US, but Oxford Black 'n' Red is excellent as well. I use it a lot and is fountain pen friendly. Smooth paper but not 'writing on glass'.

Out of curiosity what is the absorbency like in your experience with the Black n Reds?

No feather, no bleed-through, show-through isn't annoying.

 

Has a quicker drying time than Rhodia DotPad, but other aspects are quite similar.
