I suppose that would be the Mr Ishimaru mentioned in Macchiato Man's Sailor Ink Studio Overview blog article.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

I saw him several times on various occasions but never requested a color. Next time, I will ask him for a perfect red - made by Sailor.

Watched a wonderful story tonight on NHK World News about a Japanese gentleman who blends custom colored inks for his customer's fountain pens. Story starts at 08:31:

This link appears to no longer point to the same edition of the program. However, NHK Network News at 7 am (I think) on Friday July 9 (aired on the US Pacific coast on July 8 at 4 pm on TV Japan) had several minutes on someone who looks a lot like this guy. He mixed the ink using a cocktail shaker, and he uses those vase-shaped ink bottles that are very popular, especially in Asia. I was wondering if anyone in Japan or anyone who watches TV Japan in the US happened to catch it? It came on around :40 of the hour and lasted maybe 4 minutes. It was apparently presented as sort of a "comic relief" story giving the presenters something to giggle about.
