Jinhao 51A Coming To The Goulet?

The Goulet listing mentions that the transparent (non-actylic) models can be eyedroppered. Does anyone know what size the O-ring you install should be? I tried one of the O-rings that I use on my Preppies, and it stuck out too far and blocked the cap. Should I just try it with silicone grease and no O-ring?

you mean like what I do with mine as shown - in this previous post - you need an O ring that is sized roughly the same diameter ( or sliver smaller than the threaded portion of the section ) and it need to be a thin type ( not the very round and bulged out type )

I see, so right now no one is holding the patents over the design?

Im by no means well versed on the issue, but my understanding is that patents in the United States dont last very long as a matter of course.

International patents last a maximum of 20 years and they're exceedingly difficult to get renewed. In fact, it almost never happens. Any patents on the Parker 51, or parts of the Parker 51, would have expired literally decades ago as the pen was introduced in 1941.

Any company anywhere can make an exact duplicate of the Parker 51, and as long as they don't put Parker's name on it, it would be perfectly legal. It's no different than Monteverde taking the Jinhao 699 (a copy of the Lamy Al-Star), putting their own logo on it and selling it as the Limonada. Goulet carried that pen as well.

I don't see any limitations of making this an eyedropper pen since it has no metal parts.

Maybe you should consult with the Customer Service at Goulet, I've heard that their CS is excellent.

Also I wouldn't recommend going only with a silicone grease. People have had success using the O-Ring only but I believe using silicone grease only have a greater risk of leakage.

Yeah, I wasn't going to try grease only without a success story because those threads don't seem deep enough to me. I didn't think of just asking Goulet. That seems like the obvious answer. Thanks.

Oh, I didn't see that post when I searched earlier. Thanks, that's very helpful. I think I'll dig out my box of O-rings and see if one of them fits. Cheers!

It's a shame it's not the wing sung 601, which is the actual good one.

Selling a boatload of restored, fairly rare, vintage Japanese gold nib pens, click here to see (more added as I finish restoring them)
