What a choice!

I presume you've had the 1914 in your hand? If not, I would try to get my hands on one before committing to buy. It is seriously heavy. You could quite literally bludgeon someone to death with it, but it is quite a remarkable pen. The red one is especially beautiful.

The Blue Hour Skeleton is a great looking pen too. I guess it would be the more usable pen perhaps. Ghostplane owns one so you could dm and ask an opinion.

Tough (but wonderful) decision to make.

Let me outline some points to consider and you decide:

Heritage 1914 333 is one of a kind. Only Montblanc of this size and weight and they wont repeat it (it is already the reincarnation of the 1914 version). The color of gold blending in with coral is stunning.

Its very heavy to hold/use. Definitely not for extended writing. Mainly to jot notes. But it does take bespoke nibs and Hamburg can make you something wonderful. Its a bit odd to keep on a M or F nib.

The Blue Hour is the most beautiful / zen like of the new skeletons. Its also the rarest, although not limited Montblanc only produced (confirmed to me) 150 pieces!! That puts it in a crazy league vs price point (less than 333) and those who got one are lucky every day they are more rare.

Compare to 500 pieces 90 years Skeleton and 1,000 for UNICEF.

Honestly I almost never write with the coral 1914 but I used the black 1914 daily until I had to send it for repair last week. That is to say, maybe go for the Blue Hour Skeleton and grab a black 1914 later?

Thanks for the replies Uncial and Pravda, I did hold the 1914 and yes it is big and beautiful, I didn’t knew Pravda that there were so few skeleton produced maybe that’s what I will do go for the skeleton and later for a black 1914.

Thanks again

Agree on the advise of Pravda, that is always the sage of the forum :) As Pravda, I own the 2 and even if the 1914 is an amazing pen and mainly the coral one, I use the black and the coral only at home to write shopping list, week menu, etc. I have in mind to offer a bespoke nib of one of the 2 models in the future. Blue hour skeleton is a daily writer and a stunning pen so I would go in the same way than Pravda :)

@Pravda: thank you for the info related to the number of pieces for each model. I didn't know they were so many number of pens, mainly for the Blue Hour :)

Cyrille & Rivarola thanks for your confidence and kind words :)

And yes, imagine a 333 LE price point retails for $15,000 or so. A 150 LE should be $20,000+ but because Montblanc didnt put a limitation stamp and didnt advertise the quantity, people have been successfully lucky to get it at $6,500-$8,000. I think its a good deal and new pieces, oh there must be only a handful out there in the market if not less.

An envious position, indeed. They are both beautiful and eye catching but beauty is subjective.

Looking at the price and production run, the Blue Hour is the clear winner.

After all, it is a statement pen and rarity is king.

now I am thinking which nib size, lol.

An O3B would be ideal but it depends on your usage.

It is the nib size I have on my Blue Hour skeleton but indeed not for all usage smile.png

IMO, if you are going to make a statement then you might as well go all in.

Is OBB part of the standard line up or a made to order? IIRC, OB and O3B are straight swaps.

As for the other oblique nib it is an exchange. I suppose MB has some nib of each type but maybe if the stock is out, they have to made new one in case you request an exchange of this type.

Last I checked, and it could have changed, MB in Hamburg did not have stock of the skeleton nibs in various sizes (except the 90th as that uses the same nib as the 149) and had to make a nib for the exchange. As it is a 149-based pen that includes from EF to 03B as part of the standard exchange.

So, it is only specialty grinds and the likes of O4B, O5B that need to go through the 'bespoke' service?

I only pointed it out as I had to have many arguments with MB service about whether an O3B was available for a certain pen. It came out in that conversation that there was no existing stocks and the nib had to be made to fulfill my request. This increased my frustration as they were going to have to make the nib so why not give me the size I wanted as it was part of the standard range.

Yup, as well as music nibs or 6B or EEF. I assume there is a limit as a nib has to fit in a cap.
