Siena Pen Pouch Authentication

I recently purchased a lightly use Siena Pen Pouch on eBay and I'm not sure if it's authentic. My concerns are: 1) the leather pouch feels really hard thought I suppose it can soften over time; 2) there's no tag sewn in with a serial number, instead it's stamped "BL316" on the inside; 3) this may be nitpicking, but the Montblanc logo on the back is about 1mm high on the right side; and 4) there are 2 different model numbers written on the Guarantee Certificate, with the correct model number being 14313.

Hoping members of the forum could help determine the authenticity.

Hi,

While reading this thread, I have my own pouch lying here in front of me, so I'd thought to chip in.

By no means I am an expert but I can tell you about my pouch (bought new in a MB Boutique):

- Mine does not mention "Made in Germany" (if I remember correctly, it was made in Italy -- at least the one I bought in 2014 or 2015)

- The logo on mine is perfectly straight; on my coin purse (also from MB Boutique) the text is also not completely straight, so it seems that QC would let it pass

- The look of the leather in your pictures does seem to correspond to 'the real thing'; I wouldn't call the leather really soft on mine; it doesn't differ from the other products I have in the Sienna line who are also rather stiff in the beginning.

- The inside lining of mine does not feature the word "Montblanc"

- Mine also has the serial number in the same place as yours (so no separate tag).

Therefore, it doesn't seem to be obviously a fake, but perhaps more knowledgeable people can shed some light.

Kind regards,

Andy

Based only with comparisons on the MB website, I'd have thought that the white and black star logo should be straight.

@akellens

Thanks for the input. The stitching and the imprints on the pouch I received is clean and clearly visible. Maybe I'm just being paranoid. Hopefully others can me find more identifying characteristics.

@horationelson
I thought that as well, but there are many examples online where the star isn't straight. It seems that they used to ensure alignment of the star but no longer do as a cost cutting measure. Here's what the website says:

Emblems are manually centered, one by one, by our artisans. The emblem is centrally positioned, but the manual pressure operation with the machine may shift the emblem itself. This is a characteristic that do not compromise the aesthetic of the product and could not be accepted as complaint according to our policy.
