Rekindled Love - Fountain Pens

Recommended Posts

I have started using fountain pens again, and I got a couple of inexpensive ones (Camlin 22).

I can't believe how much progress has been made. In old days, I used to use Bittoo which used to cost Rs 5 and one I had was a sophisticated one, it resembled present day hero. Bittoo wrote really well and was my goto pen, but leaked ( If i remember correctly), was forgiven since it was really inexpensive.

The Camlin 22 feels like a nice pen and to my surprise, writes really well too (No leaks sofar).

I have been using it with Parker Quink from past week. Thought I would share. Don't intend to go for expensive pens, being a careless guy and a cheap skate :-). Would buy couple of Fountain pens for sure from Bril and Camlin and would definitely not be using ball pens now.

Have exams in few days. Thought I would share. Hope this post belongs here and does not seem like a mistake.

That's great!

But I'll tell you one thing, you should at least try out a Pilot Metropolitan or a Lamy Safari. I'd be happy to let you borrow mine!

I have had good experiences with a Camlin 47 piston-filler too. I also have two Kanwrite Desire 35. Just make sure you ask for one with the new made in-house ink converter. The old syringe-style one leaked into the barrel of the pen if you filled it too far.

I haven't bought or used any other Kanwrite pen, yet.

The Kanwrite nibs are the best in India.

I buy from them to get replacements to fit Airmail Eyedropper pens where the OE Wality nib is junk. People like Ranga use Kanwrite nibs in their Eyedropper pens too.

If you are ever in the position to have some money to spare then you should buy a Ranga pen.

Any make of Eyedropper pen does have the flaw of burping. Very annoying if you are writing something official, it then looks un-professional. I expect you have already encountered this unwelcome flaw.
