Ink as many as you want to use. Write more if necessary. Above all, enjoy the experience of inking and writing!

I think the least I've gotten down to is fifteen inked. I do understand what you are going though. I haven't brought a pen in at least month and am trying to focus on enjoying the quality pens I have that I've been neglecting. Not that I'm doing very well at that.

Phewww! And here I thought I wasnt normal :)

:)

Hi Tseg,

I have around 20 pens inked and in service right now.

But I do try to keep it at 15, though,... just so that when it comes time to rotate, the flushing work isn't too mind numbing. :D

Help!

I've come to the point where a spreadsheet I keep "in the cloud" is no longer sufficient, and I've had to also keep a physical logbook of which pens are inked with what when (complete with a brief writing sample), just to stay on top of what I have (done). Perhaps you can consider either of those "aids".

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Right now I have 13 pens inked - that is the size of my pen case. But, I have been contemplating inking them all. Just not right now . . .

Wow I just have 4 inked right now. I need to clean several of those out and decide what to keep inked to take on a trip with me.

I often have 17 inked, may have only 15 inked now......and a pen cup full of pens that need to be flushed.  (I may have 70 or so working pens of this and that width and flex.)

Just last year after lots of hard work, .....of not going to inky thoughts or reviews....got down to 7 pens on my way to 5............................I wanted to use up some ink.....so I could buy new inks :( . Back to 17 inked...perhaps more. I just inked an Osmia BCHR steel nibbed Supra (maxi-semi-flex) EF and changed my mind about EF...........the nib is smooth..........not toothy or crency the stage between toothy and scratchy.

:o For a ink test, I wanted M and  found out the pen marked M on the barrel was actually EF. :gaah:

Have 50-60 inks 9/10's bottles.

One gets a couple inks....one looks to do a nib test....so wants similar inks. And with in Weeks!!!! was back at 17 pens inked.

10 is a great limit.............stick to it, and one can enjoy buying new inks. One have more pens inked....and one uses ink less!!!!! Not more. :happyberet:

According to the database, I have 13 pens inked. However, six of those I don't really count: a pair of Platinum Carbon desk pens which aren't in regular use (I should flush them), a pair of rOtring ArtPen sketch pens (in an art supply bag), and a pair of Platinum Brush pens.

I'd had an Access/JET database for pens for a few years now, added a table for inks a few months back, and then added a table for "pen inked" (with dates for inking and flushing -- so I can now produce reports of just "inked" [flush date NULL], or full history).

I guess the only real problem would be if any of the pens had issues with the nibs drying out. As long as they cap nice and tight, and write as soon as the nib hits the paper, its not really a big deal. I can't recall a time that I ever let a pen sit inked long enough that the nib dried out or had issues hard starting. And I've left them all to sit for up to a month at times.

In fact, if I ever bought a pen that dried out after sitting inked for a month, I'd probably sell it. Just a personal preference.

But, anything less that 15-20 inked is certainly not normal! ;)

According to the database, I have 125 pens inked, not counting my fiancée's two dozen or so.

Is that a new milestone?

I was second guessing my sanity, only keep 5 inked at a time.
