I love reading everyone's ink reviews, so I thought I would try making one too.

 

• The pens used are the Noodler's Ahab and a Muji Fine nib pen.
• The paper is Hilroy recycled lined - aka, cheapest stuff at Amazon.
• The spelling is terrible, but until they invent a pen with a spellchecker that can read dyslexic, we are just going to have to make the best of it. I'm heavily dependent on electronic aid to communicate well in writing, but I'm improving.

 

 

General thoughts about this ink:

• The colour is lovely and dark. A rich purple-black-blue to it. It's a soothing colour for long writing sessions.
• It performs well on a variety of cheap papers. Very little feathering even on the stuff they use at work.
• The flow is just about perfect. It certainly doesn't gush out of the pen, but it comes out when I ask it and doesn't skip a beat.
• Dry time is moderate
• It's very-not water resistant. If I get it wet enough, the writing disappears. For this reason, I'm not sure I'll be using this ink much in the future.

I've been curious about this line of inks. Thanks so much for posting your thoughts, and the "waterproofness" test (such a brilliant real-world example).

 

I'm impressed by your close-up photo. Who would have though the Hilroy would have allowed for such a tight line (I'd have expected way more feathering).

Never heard of them before, so thank you for showing one of their inks. I just took a look at their webshop - really nice packaging, and the other two colors look nice too. As far as I could see, not available in Europe - a pity

Probably the thing I like best about this ink is its ability to handle any paper I use.

This is a page I've been keeping. The paper is the same as used in my book - I'm trying to find a good ink for signatures.

 

The paper is semi-coated so it's not exactly shiny but it is designed so the ink from the offset printing doesn't blur. It's all very technical.

 

I write the name of the ink and let it dry. Then I write 'blot' and blot the ink after about two seconds. Then I do the dry time test. The next time I write a sample, usually about a week later, I try to smudge the left side of the last ink sample (on the name).

I forgot to mention when I got the ink, the bottle was as full as a Noodler's. There was even dried ink on the outside of the bottle, so I think it must have been overfilled but not wiped clean. No empty space in the bottle, so I don't think anything leaked out, it was simply overfilled when it was packaged.

What would you say is the diameter of the bottleneck? I'm asking because I'd like to put a sailor ink reservoir (or pilot reservoir or levenger reservoir or TWSBI reservoir) in it and it seems rather narrow. The Sailor reservoir is pretty narrow (0.8 in) but I'm afraid it won't fit. The pilot reservoir is about the same thickness.

I don't think it'll fit. I have one of their bottles and it's not as small of an opening as a herbin 1670, but it's getting there

I like that there are lots of inks out there but am sad that most of them are just food coloring that won't stand up to even steam from a coffee cup. 

 

Still, thank you for this review that saved me some money by not buying more ink!  If FWP could come out with one or two water-resistant colors, I might want to revisit their line because I do like the packaging.
