Montblanc Is Revamping Their Standard Ink Line!

You can hardly find the old ink line up now. I am so glad that when Pennenut started this topic in April of 2019 I bought old Irish Green, Corn Poppy Red, Burgundy and a little later Lavender. I just now searched Amazon and eBay and only found Toffee Brown.

 

Try specialist sites like Anderson Pens (they have a fairly complete selection including special editions), montblanc.com, dromgooles.com, and fahrneyspens.com

 

The selection is out there, and sometimes you can find discontinued colors and unusual special editions.

I recently bought cartridges of the Manganese Orange and Irish Green (for my Starwalker and Boheme). The orange is a lovely colour - and I think I might go for a bottle of it! Not put the Irish Green into a pen yet, however, the packaging suggests the colour has been darkened.I'm one of those people who want Racing Green back, so would welcome Irish Green being darkened. Also bought a bottle of Modena Red - love it for the vibrance; however, I still appreciate the older MB reds.

~ Over the past couple of months I've been especially pleased by the performance of two inks.

I'd had low expectations, but with use their quality after drying on paper has been impressive.

• Montblanc Lapis Lazuli

• Montblanc Modena Red

Both have been superior performers in EF and in more broad nibs.

Based on my experience, they merit praise.

I like them so well that there are two bottles of each on my writing desk.

Was the Corn Poppy Red ink part of the basic MB ink line or it was something special? I cannot find any mention about the ink on any leaflet going with every box of ink from that time. Not even with the leaflet in the box of CPR itself. It is strange. Some explanation?

I guess I've been out of paying active attention to this.

 

I'm glad some old favorites are sticking around. With that said, I haven't been wild over the past few years about what seems to be an across the board trend to what I'd call more generic labels. I've loved the older Mont Blanc labels where the entire thing(along with the box) gave some reflection of the color. The white background with colored lettering just feels a bit "cheaper" to me. I love Mont Blanc inks on the whole both for their colors and just the overall performance, and I love that they have a bottle that is distinctive and attractive while also functional. The labels now aren't what I'd expect from a company that seems to-every year-become as much a luxury/lifestyle brand as it is a maker of really darn good pens.

I think corn poppy was a regular ink but its availability was not as regular as the others in the line.

Yes, corn poppy was a regular one, but was discontinued with the introduction of the new/update of the standard ink line.

Modena Red is the successor of Corn Poppy Red as the standard red tone as I understood - some say "unfortunately".
