Maybe anyone has asked the question before but how does the new Amethyst Purple compare to the Lavender Purple which is now discontinued?

I picked up a repaired pen and they asked me what colour I'd like to have, I told them Lavender Purple, since it's the ink I always have in that pen... Then she said they don't have it but they do have another new 'standard ink' purple: Amethyst Purple.

Lavender Purple when saturated from a wet nib is very dark. Can look as deep purple to almost black from a distance.

Amethyst is lighter and has a more reddish tone to it. Not as light as Beatles, halfway there I guess.

This is what happens when I come to love the colors while refuting the change.

No offense to anyone but petrol blue is not my thing.

On the bright side, pumped for the pink and mandarin orange.

Steve

Have incoming pop pink, golden yellow, mandarin orange, and all the hues of blues. Ultramarine is my least favorite but maybe it surprises me better than royal blue.

On the bright hand, look forward to adding all the new colors to my

Collection.

What is your favorite hue of the new blues and new colors in the standard line?

From the ones I bought (Turquoise, Ultramarine, Maya blue and Egyptian blue) and I have tested (not yet tested Egyptian blue) my favorite is the Maya blue and just after the Ultramarine that I really like as blue (little bit better than Royal blue) in my St-Exupery LE.

All this on-going change in ink colors to force us to buy new product. Well it worked! For the first time since the 1950s, my family is using non montblanc inks in our montblanc fountain pens.

Mom still smirks a bit when she sees the new Japanese ink bottles next to her old German 149s. This weekend I'll refill her old unused montblanc ink bottles with the new Japanese inks. :-)

from what i can see, this is a true red, without drifting into pink/magenta. so far, that has always been my pet peeve with red inks (and black ones, too).

thanks again.

I received an elixir parfumeur cherry blossom ink during my last purchase in the boutique.

Since it isn’t listed anywhere for sale, I suppose it’s also a new ink.

You can hardly find the old ink line up now. I am so glad that when Pennenut started this topic in April of 2019 I bought old Irish Green, Corn Poppy Red, Burgundy and a little later Lavender. I just now searched Amazon and eBay and only found Toffee Brown.

I could not resist, unsealed and ready to use now
