Stipula Etruria Photo Thread

Gorgeous celluloids! I like how those three Etrurias look together and how, with the Etruria’s design, even just the tops of the caps show off the celluloid well. Thanks for the photos Ruben! Nice collection.

Tuscany Dreams in mottled hard rubber of superior quality.

They were handmade by the best Stipula artisans using the traditional technique of wax transferring.

I think it is one of the last, if not he last LE made in a total of only 351 pens (193 FP) before the official closing of Stipula.

It is surely not everyone's cup of tea, some did not like the band and the clip either considering it exaggerated or too heavy, but I am simply in love in it.

I really like Montblancs and have only several, but I can't really see how any modern 149 can be compared with the time and work put into this fountain pen.

BTW the new internet site is up (on www.stipula.com) and on the manufacture page, there's a picture of many the materials used in our pens.

Thank you for sharing, Babangita. This pen is beautiful. I am a fan of the combination of red ebonite and gold fixture, which gives a warm and vintage feel. The clip and cap band might seem heavy compared to the more common simple components on the market, but they are unique and artisanal. I miss the more ornate cap rings by Delta and other Italian pen makers that went out of business.

I hope that Novelli will not take offense to find his photographs "re-proposed" on this forum, but since this topic is essentially photographic, it seemed a good thing to keep an image of this beautiful realization for our archives.

Celluloid Etruria 991 top/left; acrylic Etruria Turtle bottom right. Similar, but IMO the 991 has greater depth and play of light.

WOW! Okay, I must admit that I find it more interesting than I thought it was. The stock/promotional picture looks to be overlighted. I like the more natural shades of the material in normal lighting. I also quite like the black section, blending in nicely with the black flakes in the material. Well done, again, Stipula!

Honey amber finish in gold trim with flexible titanium nib

This is my first Stipula. I am not too crazy about the strange dull gold tone of the titanium nib, but It has the right amount of feedback to make writing pleasant. Not quite as flexible as Scribo, but similar to Aurora. I really like this color and finish. It feels rather delicate. If I drop it, it might shatter into a million pieces. Hoepfully that won't actually happen. :) Sorry for the poor picture quality. It's cloudy in Seattle and I am still locked up at home.

Mad_pharmacist, your Etruria is very nice. It does look like it’s made of crystal. BTW, your handwriting is very neat. Almost hard to believe it is not a computer font. (:

You beat me to it, Mad_Pharmacist - my Miele Selvatico with gold trim arrived last week! I cant believe how gorgeous this material is, it looks as if theres a piece of honeycomb trapped in Amber with a spider having woven a golden web around it.

Its exceptional value - especially as I got mine from Giardino.it, who are giving an extra nib free, so I have both the V-flex and a stub to play with.

Richard F, mad_pharmacist, bbs: Congratulations on your new acquisition!! Thank you for sharing the photos. They are all beautiful pens. It's great to see Stipula keep coming with new patterns.

sansenri: This Fiesole/Havana Brown celluloid is just amazing. I love the warm tone of the honey coloured brown mixed with the mysterious blue streaks. These Tibaldi/Stipula celluloids really rival Omas ones. Together they represent the best of Italian celluloids so well.

I am very please with the pen so far, but I should have read your post before I purchased mine. I missed out on the free nib. :wallbash: I am rather curious about the V-flex nib.

Apologies, I meant to post something in the Market Watch forum and here .... so sorry you missed out, I feel a bit guilty! But you do still have a lovely pen, and I’m a fan of Stipula’s titanium nibs - I probably would have gone for that option if I hadn’t wanted to try the others and save a bit on the cost.

The V-flex isn’t the most supple flex nib I’ve ever written with, nothing like an FA or Scribo Feel, or even the latest Aurora flex (although it’s been a while since I last wrote with the latter). It does have decent line variation but has to be persuaded - it’s not one to offer flex as soon as you touch it to paper. I’ll try to show some samples later. It was also quite difficult to get the ink to flow to start with (although I was using the supplied cartridge so the feed wasn’t primed). It’s writing first time now.

But I think I’d forgive this pen pretty much anything for the way the resin looks. Not celluloid, obviously, but beautiful and an absolute bargain compared with its more illustrious siblings.

a closer picture of my Alter Ego shown earlier

you are right Franco, this celluloid looks quite different from the others

fpn_1588980432__p1190440-3_stipula_etrur

although admittedly, the one that looks really different is the dark blue-grey celluloid presumably called Blue Ocean shown earlier by gmax

this pen has a sort of fishbone pattern inside the celluloid which makes it very peculiar
