A great Etruria trio, George! I hope you continue using them in good health.

Thanks, I always cherish them,Stipulas always had a special place in my collection. Even though,I don't use them as much as before, they are fantastic pens.

I’m still longing for one and tried to find one at the Dutch pen show. Every table that I asked said something like “I’m not selling that junk.” There were thousands of pens at that show and not a single Stipula. I’ll definitely try the first one that crosses my path.

Really? That surprises me. Last year (when I went), Emy from the Pen Venture had quite a few facetted versions. Sarj Minhas should have a couple as well?

Stipula:  Loved the pens but after a number of years they both failed at the piston shaft.  The Demonstrator piston spins freely, can't load ink or clean.  The Etruria just froze up on day and that was that.  Now they live in baggies waiting for me to do something.....

The phenomena you described is new to me, so that I checked my stips, they work well despite I haven't used them in a while. Many people disadvised back then to use permanent and heavily saturated inks in Etrurias, I don't know if Stipula still exists and manufactures pens maybe an independant repairer like Tom Westerish or Ron Zorn could see what's wrong with them, I never put heavily saturated inks in any of my italian pens

It's been a long time, could be 10 years, I don't think I remember what ink I was using. I'll see if I can contact RonZorn, I'd prefer to keep the pens in the US.

I’m really enjoying this Corsani Etruria in Gran Sasso celluloid. It’s a limited edition from Corsani in Rome and so I think it’s a bit different.

The placement of the cap threads at the end of the section is so clever I can’t understand why I’ve not seen that before.

The EF nib is more of a Medium, but I like it very much and I understand Stipula are making their own nibs, which is surely to be encouraged. And it’s such a beautiful pen! Those cap bands are so elegant…

Hi!

Just added a second Etruria to my collection: Stipula Etruria Pirineos (Limited Edition) in ebonite, steel nib.

See next to my Ambra (old version).

Both are a joy to use and very pretty to my eyes.

What a lovely pen! The silver furniture really contrasts well with the ebonite material. Thanks for sharing!

Is it heavier of less heavy than the celluloid version?

Thanks!

It’s less heavy, the ebonite in the cap of the Pirineos is a bit thinner than the celluloid in the Amber.

Just got my first Stipula Etruria Rainbow in Yellow. I´v been drawn to this pen for a long time. I have always liked the look of the color and the sleek resin together with the a bit cruder capring and clip.

I went for a titanium nib which i have heard a lot of bad things about but I got a really good nib that the seller had put away for himself.

I´v heard that the lighter colored Rainbows are prone to be stained by ink. I´m not super worried about this but it would be sad to stain it the first week. You  guys with more experience with these pens have you noticed any of this. What is your experience ? Has this happend with normal ink or with more troublesome inks.

Great looking pen!  I have found that even the inks most prone to staining can be cleaned out. The problem is when ink gets trapped in places you don't want it to be, then it is hard to clean. Also, I'd avoid the glittery inks in this pen.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

Thank you for advice, thats another thing I wondering in the description of the pen it says screw in nib unit which sounds like  an easy way to clean it if ink gets stuck in the section. But reading this thread someone said its just a friction fit nib. At this moment I don´t want to crank on the nib just to see because its so well tuned and I dont want to mess it up unnecessarily.

Have been long tempted by both the Pirineos and  the Rainbow. They are two very different bets, but each one with its unique appeal. The simple ring and clip of the Etruria, together with the beautiful proportion silhouette of these pens are a testament to the beauty of Stipula's  core model.

If I understand the Pirineos is in the classic Etruria size (which I prefer), while the Rainbow is "Magnifica" size, which is still an extraordinary pen, but which I would prefer a bit smaller (and the traditional Etruria is by no means a small pen!).

Hi, you are right: the Pirineos is similar to the classic Etruria in size (see both together in my previous pictures). It is really confortable, not too large but not small at all.
