Stipula Etruria Photo Thread

I had to sell a few pens to buy these, but they are lovely! I wish I had bought the faceted version years ago from Bryant at Chatterley. Stipula's celluloid pens have gone up in price quite a bit.

Very nice trio, como! Those terracotta and burnt siena brown and transparent amber colors are the quintessence of Tuscany! They remind me vivid memory of the many summers spent visiting the Etruscan lands...

I just realized from you photograph that the faceted Etruria is quite distinctly larger than regular Etrurias. Even though you may perhaps find on the net information about the actual size of the pens, nothing may substitute the clarity of a comparative photo! Thank you.

@fpupulinThank you! Over the years I realised that I also prefer the earthy warm tones of brown, orange, red and yellow. They dominate the colour schemes of my celluloid pens. They are comforting to look at, especially during the long cold winter, which makes me miss the times I spent vacationing and living in Italy and Spain, the warm sun and the blue Mediterranean. As far as the sizes, the faceted is just a little bit shorter than your Miele Selvatico, the Magnifica size. My Ambrosia and Alter Ego are both Classica size. I should have a faceted Champagne/Fiesole/Havana Brown Stipula coming soon. After that, the pen fund will need substantial recovery for a while!

lovely celluloids como!

I guess we are not going to see too many of these being produced again in future...

Thank you, @sansenri. I was told by both pen dealers that these faceted pens were made from spare parts or already were made a number of years ago (probably around the time or not long after the Chatterley's collaboration with Stipula on these faceted pens). Since Stipula is a relatively small pen maker, my guess would be the same as yours. If they do still have these rods, I trust that they will not do what ASC did with Omas celluloid rods🙄. My guess is that Stipula will do controlled releases, if they have the rods to make more.

A very impressive trio! Thanks so much for the beautiful post.

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

For all the Etruria lovers and lurkers of this thread, I just got notified by Novelli.it in Rome about more facetted Etrurias:

Absolutely love the Ebonite version

Does anyone know if these come with the new Sti-flex nib or is it the regular 14k nib?

@TheFairyCircleMy two faceted (Rosso Verde and Champagne) are both with 14k rhodium plated gold Sti-flex nib. They just say 14K on the nib, but I assume that Stipula 14k nibs are Sti-flex, vs. 18k being regular gold. There is some small but noticeable size difference though. My Rosso Verde faceted from Pen Venture seems a little girthier than my Champagne faceted from Corsani. They have the same length. Maybe the difference is due to rod sizes available, not version difference such as Classica vs. Magnifica. Unfortunately I seem to have reached upload size limit so I can’t post any more photos to show the size difference.

Stipula faceted

Yes, and you can do a plain copy and paste :).

Very nice, the Fiesole celluloid on the left, and the Volterra / De Architectura Leon Battista Alberti celluloid on the right :).

@wimg👌👍Thank you!

It's only a pleasure :).

I literally right-clicked on your gallery image, clicked copy, came back here, and pressed ctrl-v in the editor box. Of course right-click and click paste will do as well :).

Very easy indeed! :)

Here is my Etruria Ambra in the cartridge/converter configuration. She has a Titanium nib, without the "T-Flex" mark, but I guess it is the same nib.

How I wish Stipula did the same nib, but with an extra-fine tip instead of a medium one...

@fpupulinThank you! First I thought I really shouldn't. Then Pen Venture sold out the Champagne, so I bit the bullet and bought the "Pizza". Then I saw that Corsani had the Champagne and I just couldn't resist. Though they are terrible for the wallet, these pens have brought me much joy, to admire and to write with.

I love this Amber celluloid. It's so warm and rich in colour and depth. I don't have the funds to get the faceted version, but I would like to find one in Classica one day. This was always one of the most beautiful Stipula I had in mind when I first saw them here in this thread. The T-flex has just one size. I think titanium is probably never going to be true EF.

I've actually made quite a few into EFs, and even finer ;).

I've also made a few flex from about 0.2 to 1.7 mm, with the ink flow holding up no problem  ....

I actually demonstrated this to Luca Viti around the time we did the Stipula FPN LE pens :).

You just need a good nib master /nib enhancer, or nibmeister if you insist, to do that for you :).

Warm regards, Wim
